I had a large construction company call me today and ask if I could meet with them about a solution to vandalism and job site analysis. We are an IC realtime dealer and they have basically a weatherproof box with standard dvr and cameras connected to a verizon account. Not sure this is the best way to go.
Most cameras I have found are designed for time lapse and job site analysis. They take a picture every 5-15 minutes. if the customer wants to stream live to his phone, he will need internet at the jobsite. Earthcam dot net has some really cool options for a builder.
At most of the job trailers around here, it is rare they will have internet. So either i convince the Builder to get internet for video streaming, Or he is stuck with a non video option. I have thought about building a trailer and renting it out to job sites.
anybody doing jobsite cameras?

I have been researching Videofied for the same purpose. My potential client have the same situation, no internet. With videofied you still need cell phone reception since it works off GSM, but it uses batteries for power. It is a little pricey though so some of my competitors rent the units out.

Well, I am meeting with the builder today to see how he would like to proceed. The earthcam company is going to do a live demo with the builder today to show him the advantages of the sofware. It is really pretty cool. Super pricey though.

Maybe it's time, since people might still be getting land lines in these trailers, to introduce them to the internet. It's not THAT expensive on top of a land line and it completely opens all video communications options to them.
Pay for internet and do what they want to do, including possibly calling the police during a theft. Don't pay for the internet and accept losses such as they have had. How much more would a guard cost? Some sites hire 24 hour guards and internet HAS to be cheaper than that!

Ask your IC Realtime rep about this: [Link: jet-protect.com]Apparently they are going to be a reseller. It can be mounted static or to a vehicle. Retail price is only....... $150,000.

Have you considered a trail cam? They run off batteries, up to one year, and have a 32 GB SD card storage. PIR activation and IR illumination at night. Hunters put these out in woods to see if deer or game use the trails. After a while the hunter will come by and pull the SD card and check the pictures that the camera has taken. We did an install for a HOA with one that wanted to get pictures of cars coming and going in the neighborhood. No power and Internet there also. [Link: walmart.com]Sorry, re-read your op and you state that you currently have a standard DVR installed.

[Link: walmart.com]Sorry, re-read your op and you state that you currently have a standard DVR installed. Just to be clear. There is not a dvr or any cameras installed currently. I also recommended the game trail camera option. the issue is if not installed correctly, the theif can easily steal these cameras. I have over 30 game cameras in which i use for a hunting property that I lease. I have had dozens of cameras stolen. It takes a bear proof locking case to try to keep thieves from messing with these. I recommended to the customer that he use the bear cages and lock boxes and weld these cameras to a metal pole in the ground. After our meeting it looks like we will be installing a solar powered dvr system for now. Thanks for the thoughts

I think the cellular scouting cams can serve this purpose more efficiently. and the solar-powered would be the best
