It states in the manual that the SAM module can support up to two different furnaces. I want to verify if that true? Does anyone have any bad experiences with integrating one of these?

Yes - it will support 2 furnaces. I've integrated 4 furnaces through 2 SAM modules in a Crestron system. The HVAC contractor supplied and installed them, and all I needed to do was link an RS-232 cable to our processors. We used QM-RMC remote processors over ethernet due to the distances of the furnaces from our system.

Right now I am in the middle of an experience on one of these that would make a hardened war vet curl up in the fettle position and cry for his mommy. But I havent even gotten the SAM in yet. My problems have all been because of the GC, HVAC contractor, the architect, and the mechanical engineer.

Oh, and Im on my 3rd week of being away from home.

the SAM unit will do (2) furnaces. Both will need to be hard wired to the sam. It will handle zones also.

Bad experiences? ABSOLUTELY. They can be a pain in the ass.

It has been a while since I worked with one, but it went pretty smoothly. I installed and configured the SAM unit, and we controlled it via Crestron.

Looking to control with Savant and I saw they have a profile built with a handleful of revisions.

I feel like I've had one big migraine this year. Everything from Vortexbox headaches to RTI programming/zigbee issues to product failures to Denon stock issues to........I don't want another headache!

Especially when the HVAC contractor doesnt have a %&$#ing clue what he is doing with the Infinity. And just to make it even better, he and his guys pretend to barely speak english

I spoke to my HVAC guy today and he said it's almost impossible to balance and setup these PIA Bryant and Carrier systems properly. He hated them.

But it sounds like at least he understands what he is supposed to do. I watched four guys trying to figure out how to wire the thing up and get it to work so he can get to the balance and setup.

Just to confirm what has been said, I have two of the units at my house and one has two zones. I am able to control all remotely using the built-in web browser. I have not yet attempted to integrated it into my control system. I hear the response is very slow so you have to cache multiple user clicks and send one command to it. The web browser interface is also slow.

The response time I saw on the Infinity and Crestron was very responsive. I stood in front of one of the T-Stats with a TPMC 8x and there was not much of a delay as I made changes on either device. Almost instantly the opposite device would react.

I think that the response and feedback times are reasonable - I managed the data parsing manually, and whenever a zone is called up it takes about 5 seconds to refresh. I've got a few systems like this out there and never get calls about problems, so it seems pretty stable and reliable.

Thanks. Good to know it is not that slow. Maybe I start to make that work this weekend.

I finally finished the one I was working on today. Once the old air handler (6 days old) was removed and the correct one installed, and the SAM finally arrived so I could get rid of the tin knockers, I hooked up the SAM and everything seems to work fine. Note, I am dealing with Elan so all I had to do was add the device to the system and not actual programming.
