LOL.
Taste test be damned. I once drank Grey Goose ALL night and never felt "down", never felt sick, and did not have any sort of a hangover the next day. That is funny as they all pretty much taste like rubbing alcohol, nut I've noticed the something. I've spent nights sticking to grey goose and had very little hangover, especially compared to getting as drunk on beer or whiskey. However I've had nights where I just drank the well vodka and wasn't as lucky. In general though, I think vodka gives less hangover, at least for me, everyone's different. I wouldn't say smirnoff is a cheap vodka either. Yeah cheaper than goose, but not the cheapest well around. We drank Idaho Silver in HS. I wonder if the hangover effects depend on what the vodka is made from, wheat, potato, etc?

That taste test design sucked. Everyone could influence everyone else. One person says '#1 wasn't very good', and so everyone else says the same. And after sniffing the vodkas, your taste buds will be fried.

Vodka is so... clinical. It's about as fun as a German dentist.
OTOH, you need something with some funk in it, some strange. Single malt or tequila have lots of fun and funk in them. Just drink less but enjoy more.
I tried Suntory Royal the other night, a blended Japanese whiskey, very nice. Made me want to try their single malts.

Its always a Greygoose & Cran night.
Indy has Dundee Honey Brown which I have shipped whenever I can. Worlds best beer. Not a fan. Somewhere I have a Honey Brown growler that I use for coins.

I've been on a BluePoint Toasted Lager kick lately.
When it comes to liquor, I rarely drink vodka (I prefer whiskey), but a couple of months ago, I spent 4 nights in Florida with a few buddies. We drank "heavily" all 4 nights & it was mostly Goose & club soda. I never woke up with a hangover. It was great.

When it comes to vodka my rule of thumb is "as long as it's in a glass bottle" youre fine since you are probably mixing it anyways. I do prefer kettle one for my vodka tonics though. I did an install for the founder (or something like that) of grey goose. He was also responsible for bringing jager to the states and started the trend of having jager girls poor shots at bars. The stuff is so bad they need marketing gimics like that.
When it comes to tequila, I'm a sipping man. Anejo please. Preferably the don julio 1942 if its been a good month.
Also love red wine. Zins and Blends.
This is what happens when you work in/for bars and restaurants.
