Monster offers media center extenders, Lifeware deal. Wow. [Link: cepro.com]
Thanks, Julie - good article ... but "Monster Life Controller" - bwahahaha, is that really what they're calling their MCE offering, that's f*k*n hilarious!
Really surprised and annoyed that no one was talking about MCE extenders; MCE sure enough seemed to be all over the place, what gives?
Did anyone see this, I read about it over @ Audioholics...
Terk Ultra Wide-Band (UWB) Wireless HDMI Transmitter. If they can pull off sending HDMI 1.2a to a display wirelessly at up to 10 meters this is sure to be one of the big hits of the year - especially at only $299
No idea how well it works, but it appears UWB is finally seeing fruition. More here: [Link: audioholics.com]
This sounds really trick, too ... anyone see it?
But what was the best item at the show? By far it had to be Nikko's 2/3-scale R2-D2 projector/AV system. The robotic Artoo is the perfect enthusiast's toy and is controlled from a Millenium Falcon remote with sound effects and realistic detailing. It moves, it projects (wall or ceiling), docks your iPod, allows users to connect up a video gaming system, makes sound effects, and even has rechargeable batteries for up to 3 hours of use (the projector and MP3 playback require the R2 unit to be plugged in). Of course, having Darth Vader and a Stormtrooper in full Lucasfilm-licensed costumes also helped drum up excitement at the booth.

more HD DVD news from the adult video industry -- more details later
Why is the press always using sex to hold our attention? Because it works?
Do you guys know about HDMI CEC? IT was news to me. Technology to go two-way over HDMI for control signals. Panasonic showing demo (they call theirs EZsync)
Control has always been in the HDMI specification. There are 19 wires in that cable, after all. Had Julie passed more time with one of the contributors to CE PRO, Mr. Boccaccio, he might have let her in on the secret. But I suppose Julie is too busy at shows to take Bret's course on HDMI that Jeff teaches. I had not heard that it was actually being used but it is in the standard and has been there from the beginning. I do take courses from people who make me seem as if I know what I'm talking about.

Pretty much every major company was showing off some form of HDMI-based control this year. Of course none of it works with anything but the same brand...
