Coming up to speed on front projectors, a quick question: Is LCD technology primarily on the low-end with DLP and maybe others (?) on higher-end? That is, are there LCD projectors above $5K or so?

LCDs are typically on the low end. Even a new Mitsubishi 1080p LCD lists for only 5k. There was a very high end Fujitsu LCD at around 25k, don't know if it is still made.

DLP is both low end and highend. Lcos/dila/sxrd is the other choice.

It is obviously a little bit jaded toward the LCOS (aka D-ILA and SXRD) technology, but it is a great overview of the three major projection technologies.

With the 3LCD technology, the top manufacturers of LCD projectors (Panasonic, Epson, etc.) have gotten significantly better than the old SharpVision LCD projection models we used to sell with pixels the size of dimes...

I still think that LCD technology as a whole would rank a third place standing behind LCOS (aka D-ILA and SXRD) and DLP.
