Check with your local Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing, DOPL. We do "Burglar Alarm Company Agent", basically a FBI background check. If I remember correctly it was $100 any takes a few weeks, needs to be renewed every few years. We do ask every applicant if they can pass a FBI background check, that usually weeds out a lot.

I recently became a landlord. $35 at Rentprep.com gets you a full background and credit check. The site sends the prospect an email with a link, and they can answer all the personal questions without you being directly involved. Then it spits out a report for you to review.

After today's news, it looks like somebody should have done a background check on our prez before they nominated him (The Chosen One) to run.

Oh, SNAP! goes the troll!

I have a rental and when the second renters moved out, I did the necessary repairs and might have been a bit less trusting than most when I had new applicants, but the credit check agency I used showed that almost everyone was a total credit trainwreck. I was not going to deal with a bad renter. Took longer to get one, but the reports saved me a lot of trouble.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."
