am i on something or did i hear that the new PS3 due to be released in sept will have updated HDMI spec so you can control the Bluray drive from a suitable telly wired via HDMI from the telly remote? or am i tripping again?

Well, the new Slim can finally bitstream HD audio formats, which means it's using a newer HDMI chipset, which means that CEC *might* be supported. However the question is whether Sony turns support for that on, and if they did whether there would be any practical benefit.

Slims are already out there, so I guess we'll just have to keep an eye open for reports...

I thought I read somewhere that there was some CEC control. But just basic stuff (like setting the input on a Sony TV).
