The reason I'm already down| to 4% free memory is due to one simple fact. With | theTSU9600 we're working with a 640x480 page area, not 240x320| as is the case | with the Pronto NG line of remotes. Working at 640x480 means larger graphics | which take up more memory. Much more memory. In many cases twice the memory | as would be used in the Pronto NG remotes. Considering this fact it's not suprising | that I'm running out of memory already. Really bums me out let me tell you. From | the very beginning I went to great lengths to optimize my XCF so that I could get | the most out of the available memory possible. Was really hoping I'd have more | than 4% free memory at this point. Push come to shove there are a few additional | things I can do to free up additional memory. Hopefully this 4% will last me a little
while. Only time will tell.

Lp that's not good news at all! Especially with that 5th changer waiting to be feed. :-) I appreciate the steps you've shown me in ways of saving as much memory as I could with the TSU7000.

Hopefully Philips will increase the memory capacity of the TSU9600 remote as they did for the NG's.

Oh BTW, congrats on the upcoming 1,000. :-)

Thanks wjjz. Yeah, next week I'll top 1,600 individual DVD discs and start using my 5th changer for more than just the occasional rental. I'm currently at 1,598 discs. Certainly would be nice if there were 64 MB of additional memory hidden away only to be unlocked with a future firmware update. Somehow I doubt that's the case unfortunately. I did manage to scrounge up another 1% over the weekend here without having to hack a thing out of my file. That puts me at 5% free memory. I can also go back to using the same colored background image on all activity based pages, versus the different color backgrounds I'm using now for each activity. That will put me at 6% free memory. Beats only having 4% free memory. I'll take what I can get at this point.

Well I've finally topped the 1,600 mark! This past Tuesday I placed the first disc in my 5th changer which puts me at 1,601 discs. In the process of updating my XCF for the DVD's I purchased last Tuesday I also updated a few of my other activities.

XBOX 360 activity updated.
Recently I acquired the HD-DVD add-on drive for the 360. Don't plan on purchasing any HD-DVD titles, but have been enjoying HD-DVD rentals. Very impressed with the video and audio quality of the HD-DVD titles I've viewed so far. In any event, to better accomodate the HD-DVD drive my XBOX 360 activity has been updated. Specific buttons for the Zoom and Bookmark functions have been added. The buttons on the main page for this activity have a better arrangement now as well.

FiOS TV activity updated.
Things have gotten off to a rather slow start as far as my FiOS TV activity goes. Verizon FiOS TV and Internet has yet to be installed at my home unfortunately. Some additional work has to be done to get service to my house. Waiting on some contractor to bore under my street so Verizon can get service to my house. :-P Oh well. Good things come to those who wait I guess. Least I hope that will be the case. In the meantime I've reverted back to the channel logos I was using for Comcast. I've also changed the name of the activity from FiOS TV to HD DVR which is a permanent change.

Galaxy 96 game added.
For purposes of my PackAndGo file I figured I might as well add Daniel's awesome Galaxy 96 game back into the mix, since I have the available memory. This game is accessible via the Activities menu in place of my lighting activity which is still accessible via the hidden button covering the system items in the top right corner of the screen from any page.

As always, my PackAndGo file has been updated accordingly for those who would like to check it out. Download link is at the top of this thread. Enjoy!

I recently added the U.S. version of "The Office" TV series to my DVD collection. With the British version of the show already in my collection I wanted to add a little something to make each version of the show standout aside from the obvious differences in the DVD covers. Decided to simply add a British and U.S. flag to the appropriate background pages. Turned out really nice, so I thought I'd share some pic action. Enjoy!

Tried your latest Pack and Go file but could not get it to install, keep getting the error message "No valid configuration file available". Tried an earlier version and it worked fine.

Thanks for the heads up. I've reuploaded a fresh file, downloaded it, and successfully installed it on my TSU9600. Should be good to go now. Enjoy!

Evidently some changes involving the font were made with this latest firmware/editor update. As a result, I've had to rework many of my movie description text panels to prevent the text from barely showing up off screen once downloading to the remote. I also had to adjust the vertical placement of a couple text panels which started crowding other text panels.

As always, my TSU9600 PackAndGo file has been updated accordingly. If you have not done so already make sure to update the firmware in your remote, otherwise you won't be viewing my configuration file in the remote as intended.

LowPro, Very Impressive. I was thinking of doing cover art for my Music server but was concerned about the memory issues. I am waiting for Philips to allow the transmission of graphics dynamically over TCPIP as the Music server and the DVD librarian have both.

Where do you go to find the percentage of memory available?

I too have been wondering if and when Philips will allow the transmission of graphics dynamically over TCP/IP. I'll have no choice but to go this route when I run out of memory in the remote. At this point I doubt my memory will even hold out till the end of the year which is very disappointing. For a device as sophisticated as the TSU9600 and carrying the price point that it does, 64 megs for ones configuration file is not sufficient in my opinion. Comparatively speaking, you get much more bang for your buck memory wise with the TSU7500 (48MB) than you do with the TSU9600 (64MB) due to the page area of the TSU7500 being half that of the TSU9600, 240x320 versus 640x480. In any event, I better stop while I'm ahead before I get myself worked up. It is what it is I guess. Perhaps if at some point Philips puts out a new build of the remote they will increase the memory capacity. I'd like to see it at least doubled. If this were to happen I'd gladly purchase the updated model.

The Settings/Info page in the remote lists the free memory available.

In another thread I posted some details regarding my DVD Juke device for the TSU9600 and how jogging DVD covers down to make room for a new title is easier than ever. For good measure I've included a copy of said post below.

The one thing I've been able to do with my TSU9600 version of DVD Juke is use "Snap to Grid". This makes jogging DVD covers down for a given letter a breeze. Here's the breakdown. (Click here for a visual. Keep in mind that I don't normally have "Draw Grid Above Item" selected. That option is just enabled for purposes of the screenshot.) My DVD covers are 160x230. That's two rows of 4 at 8 per page starting at coordinates 0,0. This leaves the exact amount of space required at the bottom of each page for the firm key labels. Better yet, by enabling "Snap to Grid" with Columns set to 15 and Rows set to 43 I'm able to snap each DVD cover to grid for perfect placement. Well each DVD cover in the top row snaps to grid precisely where it belongs. Each DVD cover in the bottom row snaps to grid one pixel too low requiring that I tap the up arrow on my keyboard one time. Hardly a big deal.

Just to be technically correct, the 7500 has exactly 1/4 of the page area of the 7000. That's why it's called a QVGA (320x240) display.

This evening my configuration file received a few updates. In light of said updates my PackAndGo file has also been updated. See below for more details.

DVD submenu navigation structure updated.
This update specifically involves my TV series box sets. Now when on the title description page for a given season you are able to page up and down through the title description pages of the other seasons which are available, versus having to browse backwards to pick a different season.

Activities page updated.
I've increased the Activities menu from 8 to 10 items. Was quite a trick to pull off due to the stock button I was using, but I made it work. Nothing a little Photoshop and trickery in the editor could not fix! Additions to the Activities menu now include Lyndel's Pronto Pong game (which uses the Channel hard buttons to move the paddle) and ProntoScript version of Daniel's Galaxy 96 game. I've also included the Windows Media Center activity though it's non-functioning in so far as my PackAndGo file goes.

Wi-Fi graphic added to system area.
When downloading my PackAndGo file to the remote the Wi-Fi level graphic will be showing in the system area. This is not a system item however, but a panel I placed there as I run my TSU9600 and RFX9400 in Network Mode now and wanted to show the system area as it appears when I'm using the remote. All devices are actually set to use IR. This ensures that the file can be demonstrated in the remote no matter who downloads it.

LP's TSU9600 TV Channel Logos:
I took some time this morning to update the channel logos for my HD DVR device as there were several new HD channels available to me I had yet to work up. In the process I also updated my "Universal HD" and "Comcast SportsNet" channel logos as I was never really happy with them. The "Universal HD" channel logo turned out particularly well I think.

(Click on the images above to view each at full size.)

To download these channel logos for use with your own XCF click on the link below. Included is the Photoshop file (.psd) I use as a template for creating new channel logos. Enjoy!
