Hello everyone. I have had a TSU9600 for a few years. For some reason, it just did not click to me how to program it. I have since read the help manuals again. I believe I have a little better understanding.

Not even sure if the unit will work right now. May have to buy another battery, we'll see soon.

I don't really have a complex setup. Sony TV, Panasonic Blu-ray, Sony CD Player, FiOS Set Top Box, Yamaha receiver and a Denon Receiver

A lot of the remote functions I don't use, no worries on that count.

First Question? On my system, when I turn on my Sony TV, it also turns on the Denon Receiver. The Denon has all the connections to my components.

Since the TV automatically turns on the Denon receiver, do I still need to create a link to power on the receiver too.

Also, when I turn off the TV, the Denon shuts off too. Do I just need to worry about TV then. The power switch is a toggle. Not sure if it has discrete codes for the Sony TV power button.

The FiOS Set Top Box is on all the time, do I need to still send a power code to the STB, even if already powered to watch FiOS shows?

When I play My CD's , the sound is actually from the Yamaha receiver and not the Denon. I keep them separate, as I have numerous speaker location switches I use. Just easier to maintain. All I use the Yamaha for is to have volume control over CD Player and Radio station if used.

In this case, just create a page for the Yamaha with needed controls? Create a link to power on Yamaha, when I select Play CD? Will the Yamaha Volume controls be on the Play CD page, or will I need to go to the Yamaha page to adjust volume?

Or would the easiest way be to use the Volume hard controls on the TSU9600.
Would I just need to link that function to the CD page or what ever component I might be using to adjust volume? IE How to I differentiate from the Denon hookups and the CD/Radio on the Yamaha, with TSU9600 Volume controls.

I apologize for the length, most will stop reading after first paragraph....that's OK.

This is something I just feel like I need to finally accomplish for myself.

Any input greatly appreciated, Thank You in advance for your valuable time and assistance
David

David,

Sony TVs have discrete IR codes.
See this link for an excel sheet with Sony codes of varying device ids. Start with sheet 0001 and try codes. If the code does not work, try same code from other sheet.

Denon and the Yamaha both have discreet power codes.

For the STB, some have reported that you can issue Power Toggle to turn the unit off and the Menu command to turn it on. If you follow that approach, you have pseudo discrete power.

To keep the Denon and TV power separate, turn of what is called CEC control in the TV and/or the Denon.

On a side note, in PEP2/3, links to anything other than the Macros are not supported. The old style links were only supported in earlier editors and PEP1.
