As all of us have to do I suppose, I need to update codes when I change a piece of equipment. My new Sony XR65A80J is great and was able to use old codes for basic functions (like on and off). But some functions are more tricky. The "TV" button for example (on the Sony TV remote) actually appears to use bluetooth or Wifi. Don't know how to address that. I found "TV" button IR codes in other Sony TVs but they don't work. My problem right now is setting the Sony to the right input depending on what we want to do and I have not found codes that will make the new TV switch to HDMI 1 (as an example). Is the Sony Excel file of codes still good? I did try copy/paste one HDMI 1 code but it did not work. Would anyone have advice? Thanks. [Link: bestbuy.com]

I would assume the old discrete codes work or I would’ve heard something about it by now. However i think there may be “old” and “newer” input codes, so make sure you’re using a recent reference.
Assuming “tv” means “tuner”, I think that’s normally “Ant”. However while I have X850B and X850G sets, I have not yet personally tried the newer J series.

Thanks Daniel. That “TV” button is not for tuner/antenna but is rather some kind of macro (I’d say) that can setup the tv in some desired state including the selection of an input. Maybe it does not have an IR equivalent? Not necessarily a big deal as long as I can find the codes to select the HDMI 1 input for my existing Pronto macro… What would be a “recent reference”? (That’s why I was asking about the Excel code file that we find on this site)

If you are akin to using IRScrutinizer, you can generate any code you need from data on the hifi-remote/sony page. [Link: hifi-remote.com]Try Sony Device 164 and these functions. 54 HD1 input, Component 1, LCD Video 3 (discrete) 55 HD2 input, Component 2, LCD Video 4 (discrete) 56 HD3 input (discrete) Note that if you search the table on the site for video, there are discretes for Video1-Video9 which may or may not work for you.

Thanks Lyndel, that looks like the codes I copy/pasted from the excel file mentioned above. Device 164 is the only one that had HDMI inputs and that did not work. :-( Is copy/paste all I had to do though? [Link: files.remotecentral.com]

Great, There's a spreadsheet here with all clean codes.
To be 100% sure, also try the other Video4 to Video9 using the codes in the spreadsheet. You can look them up from the website I posted above if needed.
71,72,73 from Device 01 (Video 4,5,6) 66 from Device 151 (Video 7) 101,102 from Device 119 (Video 8,9)

There's a spreadsheet here with all clean codes. If it interests anyone: I have made a Girr version that can be directly imported into IrScrutinizer. It is available here: [Link: raw.githubusercontent.com]

Barf/Lyndel, if I use the codes in/from the excel spreadsheet, can’t I just copy and paste into PEP?
Isn’t IRScrutinizer for code generation? Into HEX? (I never used it)

if I use the codes in/from the excel spreadsheet, can’t I just copy and paste into PEP? Sure, if you are happy with that, fine. Isn’t IRScrutinizer for code generation? Into HEX? (I never used it) It can do that and much more. You can import a bunch of interesting commands, and generate a Pronto file containing those with a few key clicks. That file can then be imported into PEP.

Thanks for the quick reply Barf. I downloaded both IrScrutinizer and your Girr file which I was able to read (into IrScrutinizer). I could see the commands I'm interested in but was not able to generate the Pronto file (because I did not yet figure out IrScrutinizer, not because it is not working). As I am struggling with this, I pulled the old Harmony 700 from the basement and added in my Sony TV and was able to select the appropriate HDMI input without problem. :-) The code exists and works. I used the Pronto learn mode with the Harmony 700 and the Pronto beeped quickly but the command does not work (from the Pronto). :-(

When importing the file you get a tree selector. Select the part you want to import, and click "Import select./param". See this: If you have suitable connected hardware (for exampe GlobalCache), you can shoot the signals directly, to test them. (Note that most (all?) Sony equipment needs at least three sends; that is pane Sending hw", the count dropbox.) The go to the "Export" pane, select export format "ProntoClassic", and press "Export parametric remote". This will generate a .ccf file that can be imported in PEP. Make sure you are sending three copies of the signal. (Actually, my Sony TV (KD55AF9) accepts two, but definitely not one.)

The timing differences in the codes you posted are negligible. However the codes are 'repeat-only' meaning that if used in macro, they might have problems. I know the NG remote line had issues with Sony codes that were repeat-only and they recommended a minumum 'Duration' be specified for the code.
You did not state how you were using them. i.e. in a button where the IR code was the only action or if the code was being used as part of a startup/shutdown macro.
Regarding CCF files....
You are correct that PEP2 cannot read CCF files, but PEP1 can import them and allow you to save an XCF. This allows you to test codes on a real Pronto. Before you can open this file with PEP2 and not have all the codes removed, you must first convert the learned codes into a MyDatabase codes.
After doing this, you can open the file in PEP2/3 and then save in that format.
See the PEP1 sticky thread in this forum.
I admit it is a lot of work to convert a large number of codes to MyDatabase but well worth it to not have to copy/paste code data.

I use the code in a startup macro and in a button for input selection. Both did not work with the learned code. Regarding CCF files....
I admit it is a lot of work to convert a large number of codes to MyDatabase but well worth it to not have to copy/paste code data. Noted. Thanks. I had forgotten about that. I don’t have many codes to do so cut and paste works for now. I am using the old Philips database Sony codes and they work but some are missing of course.

I recently added a Sony XR65A80J to my setup. I got the codes from Global Cache’s IR database. They had an “All Sony tvs” code set and a”Custom Installers Codeset”. Between the 2, I got all the codes I needed.
The code for the tv tuner is “Input Antenna”. All the HDMIs are “Input HDMI X”. There were a lot of Input codes for inputs current tvs no longer have, which was a little confusing. I setup my pc with the email from Global Cache on the left, and PEP2 on the left, so copy and paste went pretty quick.
The “TV” button on the remote is a shortcut. It is initially set to take you to “Channels”, Sony-speak for the Antenna Input, but you can change the button to other inputs at Settings/Channels & Inputs/TV button shortcut.
