Using pep2 on HP running vista 64 bit with no problems until now. Just picked up tsu 9200 suppose to work on vista os. Put in install disc downloaded but pronto dashboard won't open up, did a little research found out not compatible with vista 64. uninstalled 9200. Now open pep2 and get "Pronto data service not running" error. The pep2 program takes longer to open than usual but does and now when I go to my database it's empty even phillips database empty. Just a hobbyist.

Did you install as Administrator? If not, reinstall PEP2 as administrator. Just make sure you have a backup of all stuff in c:\users\All Users\Philips\ProntoEdit Professional 2.0 folder.

If under services.msc, the Pronto Data Service shows up but is not running, try editing it and stating to run as administrator. Then try to start it.

Here is a link for another user’s solution to this problem.

Thanks for the info Lyndell. Pronto Data Service was not listed under services, must have been removed when in uninstalled 9200 program. Backed up everything uninstalled pep2 and reinstalled everything back to normal. Do you know if I can run TSU 9200 software on vista 64bit os. When I tried to install with disk I get error Pronto dashboard stopped working.Tried to install from download on RC same issue. I installed on XP machine (with disk) it work fine then hardrive problem, older laptop just a coincidence I think. Don't really want to invest in fixing XP laptop if I don't have to.

Sorry, can't say for sure as I never owned an 9200. I strongly suspect that the editor was a first gen (like PEP1) editor and therefore will likely have problems on a 64 bit OS.

Others have had luck running VMWare images and also the Virtual PC from Microsoft with an XP image with versions of PEP1 and likely PEP2.

I know this is an old thread but I often forget when I have not used PEP in a while.

I go to Task Manager and start ProntoDataService manually and that fixes the "Pronto data service not running".
