Feels like it. 9800 froze, so I switched it off and restarted it. No joy, stays on the 'please wait' page permanently. Tries resetting again, and hard reset (page up + home + menu), no dice.

Tried hooking it up to PEP2 to reinstall program folder, but I just get an error message, namely:

'The pronto is currently in the settings mode. Please press exit on the Pronto and retry.'

I can't do this, obviously.

Help!

EDIT: Tried with PEP on another machine and it suggested the battery was low - I'd be surprised if this were the case (I'd only just taken it out of the dock), but we'll see.

Any other ideas?

Swapped batteries with the other one I have and no dice - it's not a battery issue. PEP2 won't connect with the device as it's stuck in the 'loading' sequence as described.

Feeling despondent after having got everything set up perfectly with RFXs only a few days ago. I don't know the forum etiquette here, so I'll refrain from using language that matches my mood...

Try a full firmware reset.

[Link: remotecentral.com]

You will have to download the config to the unit again after doing this.

OK - thanks for that. I have found the 9800 firmware updater in the files and downloads section and will see how I get on.

Cheers, Lyndel!

Maybe if you leave the battery disconnected for several minutes to give time for all the capacitors to completely discharge? I don't know if that will work for the Pronto, but it's worked for me with other stuff sometimes.

Thank you so much - I'm no longer in meltdown mode and order is restored to the universe. I actually ordered another from eBay last night (good condition and a very reasonable price), so I will have one in reserve. So I have the following in the house:

- the original TSU9400 that I bought when these things were actually on sale.
- a 9600 bought from eBay, presently set up for IR.
- a 9300 that came with the first RFX9400 that I bought - that's used for the kids' TV/stereo/PS4 combo.
- one 9800 used as main remote.
- one 9800 used as a static panel by the hifi and AV gear, and
- another 9800 on its way from Spain.

Could be considered excessive by some (including my wife)...

Thanks again. I appreciate your help more than I can say!

Cheers

Simon

(Oh, and cheers too, Mike. I had tried leaving it to completely flatten the batteries, but alas no joy. Clearly much of the memory is what used to be known as non-volatile when I was young.)

Oh, and small PayPal donation for the downloads made - least I could do.
