Hi Guys,

I recently upgraded my xtreamer Ultra2 (gone to the old mans!) with a xtreamer whizz.

The remove is very basic, no play buttons, just up/down/left/right/enter/return (and a few more).

I'm trying to find out if I can 'create' a code for Play/Stop/Rewind etc..

Here is a sample scan of 'Down' button.

0000 006D 0022 0002 0154 00AB 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 05F6 0154 0055 0016 0E51

From IrScrutinizer, here is what comes back:

protocol = NEC1, device = 0, obc = 14
{38.0k,579,msb}<1,-1|1,-3>(16,-8,A:32,1,^108m,(16,-4,1,^108m)+){A=0x00ff708f}

So, is this a 'standard' that I could then look to grab a PLAY code from a device that uses something similar?

Actually, just revising this. the code I have above actually seems to put 2 down's, so it skips (I'm using Kodi, so it skips two movies).

Here is a code I had for LEFT that was working:
0000 006D 0018 0005 0155 00AB 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F

I've re-learnt so that IrScrutinizer recognises it, and got this:
0000 006D 0022 0002 0154 00AB 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 05F6 0154 0055 0016 0E51

It's now skipping two each time I press it.

Any help is really appreciated.

Change to this:

0000 006D 0022 0000 0154 00AB 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 05F6

once making the first change, remove the last 4 sets of 4 digits.

Now, this code will never repeat.

Thanks Lyndel, I knew there were smart people on here to get this to work :-)

I'll check out the doco on the weekend.

Just need to find out if there is also a way to get 'other' buttons to work. The remote only has about 5, nothing for play, pause etc, so also trying to find a way to get those codes.

Xtreamer haven't even answered any of the post for the past month, so I've lost hope with them...

Hey Lindel, FINALLY got around to trying this. It works, so many thanks.
Still no repeat function however, but pressing the left moves left without jumping..
Any ideas how to get repeat to work?

Anybody out there that can help?

I'm also 'really' wanting to find any codes for play/stop/rewind etc, as the current system (up/down/left/right/ok) buttons are shocking... Two presses each time just to play/pause etc..

Will to pay somebody to help if that helps :-)

Try this out (taken from the IRScrutinizer version) and if it does not repeat too quickly, you can follow the same pattern for your other Arrow Keys.

0000 006D 0022 0002 0154 00AB 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 0EF6 0154 0055 0016 0E51

would you believe I'm finally back on this again!

I'm sick of having to press the left/right continuously to get fast forward/rewind..

Lyndel, I tried you code, and it works for fast forward when watching a video, but when trying to select a video (from the library) the repeat is skipping two presses. eg. If I press the left button, it moves left twice...

The no repeat works fine, eg, it just moves one left, but of course I then need to press it multiple times to go left/right (which is proving to be a pain).

Any other suggestions anybody?

Using e.g. IrScrutinizer you get the "correct" one according to the specification of the NEC1 signal. It is not unlikely that your device "understands a dialect only", in that it has its own ideas of repeats, as implemented in its own original remote. Similar to Lyndel, I would suggest that you experiment with with the fifth last (possibly also the very last) number: increase/decrease with a certain amount until you get the result you expect.

Another thing you can do is to re-capture the signal from the original remote with IrScrutinizer, but first disabling the repeat finder (Deselect Options -> Invoke repeat finder). What do you get then?

thanks Barf, I'll give your ideas a shot.

Is there a way to capture via irScrutinizer and the pronto remote? to date, I've been capturing via the pronto remote and the pronto software...I don't have IR on the PC, just USB cable to the pronto..

Unfortunately not directly. Once I planned on implementing it, but scrapped the idea after all, see [Link: github.com] if you are interested. Indirectly, you learn in the Pronto, save it as CCF or XCF, and import that file in IrScrutinizer.

Disabling repeat finder is meaningless in this context, since the Pronto has its own "repeat finder", which, to my knowledge, cannot be turned off.

ok, thanks. I've been learning in Pronto... then copy/paste the hex codes to IrScrutinizer... Not sure what I am seeing, I need some time to read up on this (probably over xmas)...

I understand Hex, understand a tiny bit out IR, but really need to dig in to the depts to understand the lead in, repeat etc... hopefully that will help me fix this problem that is annoying the 'you-know-what' out of me!

(or I'll just change my media player to another brand that works with a better remote that allows for play/pause/stop keys and Kodi!)

0000 006D 0022 0022 0154 00AB 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 1EF6 0154 00AB 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 0EF6

Basically, what I did was to extend the lead-out time on the one-shot IR data to a bit longer time. Then, I setup the original one-shot data as the repeat. Note that I removed the 2 pair (4 sets of numbers shorthand for NEC Repeat).

When you put this code into MyDatabase, what is the 'Duration' that is specified for the code? Is it 'Default' or do you use some other value?

Thanks Lyndel, I'll give that a shot today... I'm dumping the hex code in to the my database for the component (whizz). Duration is default.
