My apologies if this topic is covered elsewhere, I did search but got rather confused.

Is there any way (in conjunction with extenders etc) of controlling things that use RF rather than IR? I'm thinking Amazon fire TV stick and some RF-controlled mains sockets.

Thanks in advance for any help, even if it's just saying 'no'!

The Amazon FireTV Stick remote is Bluetooth, not standard RF, which is why they need to be paired. IP control or OEM remote the only ways. The Amazon FireTV set top boxes have an IR receiver and there are codes available.

The Roku (or any other streaming stick) work the same way. For all the time and trouble, just spend the extra $40 and get the Amazon FireTV box and call it a day.

To answer your question, there are currently no ways to learn codes for RF remotes for any system as far as I know. The FCC controls that domain.

The Pronto Pro Line uses 2.4 GHz Wifi to talk with extenders. The Classic and NG Pronto Line used a specialized RF Extender that for EU models communicated on a frequency that could talk to various RF-model equipment by inputting special codes. However, this RF communication is not possible with any of the Pro Remotes.

Well I have done it but it is a bit of a kludge. I send IP commands to a raspberry pi running a python script which sends the commands to the Firestick via ADB using USB. If it is something you are interested in I can pack it up and load it to a forum.
