hi, i am playing with my new 9600 and im trying to get it to connect to my network. So far i have had no success and im getting a bit frustrated.

My router is an Apple Airport extreme and i have WPA personal encryption. I dont want to leave my network open as my neighbours will be on it in seconds so its not an option. I have tried a fixed ip but as im not an expert on this i got nowhere and quickly gave up. I have no issues with any of my other 11 wifi connected items on the network and i do have problems with the occasional fixed ip as because i have so many devices they play up when they end up on the same address. I have downloaded the latest firmware to my device 7.4.22 and have put my network name as the SSID and have a mac address showing in the settings screen underneath my network name. The device just says connecting and there is an x in the wifi section.

Can someone please help as i want to set up my apple tv with a script.

I do not have any extenders. i just use the device as is.

Many thanks

Mark

Here is a 1000' view on setting it up, some steps you have already done:
1) right click the root/Master Project and select the network tab. This is one place other projects can derive from. Set the SSID, Encryption and key. The encryption options include WPA/WPA2 personal (what I'm using now).
2) in advanced WiFi choose Multiple Access Points, then Specific and select 3 channels. Use automatic for a sure bet and specific to reduce the time to connect. Automatic can take 5(ish) seconds here where selecting the right 3 channels in Specific will reduce the time by 60% and connect in 2(ish) seconds. My hotspot is 20' away. Additionally, select "Every" radio button in Scan Strategy to scan every 1 minute. Ignore the warning(s) initially to just get the connect to succeed.
3) Projects under the root inherit Master Project properties(or set the network the same).

There is also a long thread in this forum on network troubleshooting.

The mistake I made was that I had a space after my router name on the router so as soon as I removed the space after the name it all worked. Thanks for the reply :)

After being stored in a closet for a couple years I was sure my TSU9800 was no longer compatible with the latest WI-FI encryption levels but after a week of pulling the few hairs I had left out I read this post and to my surprise I had made the same mistake! Thank you very much for posting your findings!

Crud - My TSU9600 isn't connecting to my WiFi Main network (where all my equipment is), but it can connect fine to my WiFi Guest network.

This looks like a bug of some sort where a character in my SSID or Passphrase isn't handled properly by the TSU9600.

I just swapped out my Airports for Zyxel access points (within the last week, actually). I used the Airports for about 10 years, and my memory may be a bit sketchy.....

But if I do remember correctly:

The TSU9600's use WEP, not WPA (but I'm using v1 firmware on my TSU9600s, so that may have changed).

There was a version of Airport firmware that wouldn't play nice with the TSU9600s -- I actually tried it and it didn't work -- so I had to load an older version of the firmware. This issue may have been resolved in more recent Airport models and/or newer firmware versions, but I got it to a point of "it ain't broke, so no more updates".

Don't know if any of this will help you, but it may trigger some ideas.

I was using PEP v3 to program my TSU9600.

PEP v3 shows WPA/WPA2 encryption as a WiFi security option (which I selected). Both my main and guest networks use WPA2 access encryption, and only the guest network works.
