Is this a list for Dealers/CI only?

DIY won't be allowed or will be extremely difficult to access to AMX, CRESTRON & RTI.

Then that's a nice feature for the list aswell. (available for DIY) However as a DIY it's sometimes possible to get the software and hardware through a dealer. Getting anything from distribor or manufactorer is indeed impossible for those companies. Becoming a dealer of Crestron isn't easy here aswell, they want to see you team up with a current dealer first and if you sell enough you can become a dealer.

I tried to look at RTI today they would not have a bar of me using it. You need to be a dealer and pay $150 an hour to get it programmed.
Thanks

What about a Nevo Q50 or S70?

If you buy through a authorized dealer they will most probably give you the software.

In OZ the S70 has dropped from $2300AU to $1500AU. The guys I program will sell a S70 with NC-50 for $1800AU. Q50 is $1100AU.

Not sure.

To be honest we don't use Pronto remotes. The only reason I have PEP2 installed on my PC is to help people here otherwise I would not have it installed.

The Q50 and S70 use Zwave (2-way) to communicate with a NC-50. The S70 has wi-fi and web browser and wi-fi does drain the battery (about 5 hours not docked) but you can turn it on or off on any page. Basically just use it when you need it e.g. weather, sonos, squeezebox, TV Guide, email etc. Works best on mobile sites.

320x240 wouldn't do it for me. I'm also not sure if it can be programmed like the Pronto(script).

Other option would be Control4 (own remote or iPad).

Thanks for this list sWORDs, real help. Suggestions for another column, 'Can communicate directly with 3rd parts products such as iTach'?

I believe AMX needs a Central Controller, but not 100%

Dupe...

I'm not going to comment anymore about Nevo remotes. They have thier own forum on RC were questions can be asked. I don't think it's right for me to comment on other brands in the Pronto Forum...some might get offended.

Cheers
Jason

iRule is well on its way to building a "PEP" like system for the iPad. See information I posted on another obvious post on this same general topic.

It would be wrong to start topics about Nevo remotes and promote them. But I'm pretty sure Lyndel and Daniel wouldn't mind us discussing alternatives in one central topic, now that the line is being shutdown. If they do they can move this to a general section, but I think it belongs here because we're looking at a replacement. So say what you want about Nevo, so I can put them in the list.

Hi Swords

Why did you not add URC to the list?

Before I discovered the Pronto, I had been thinking of having 2 or 3 networked EEE PC's (with 7 inch touchscreens for each) as my control setup.

Or

A centrally located 'server' with multiple GFX cards giving the possibility of connecting up to 6 touchscreens.

As for hand-held, I would currently opt for either the iPad or the Android.

I'm sure that someday a battery-powered PC touchscreen will appear. There have been USB-powered touchscreens on the market for sometime. Wireless is the next logical step.

The battery-power PC touchsceen would be the ideal for me. If anyone knows of such a device please post me a link?
"Home" is where my Pronto is.

The trouble at the moment with Battery powered PC's is batterylife the Vantage touch panel (PC) used to have this problem only lasting 2 hours on battery, but there new panel is much better i guess as time goes by it will get better.

I will never get used to not having Hard buttons though, i think people forget how usfull these are.
