A couple of years ago, I was looking into buying a Pronto Pro remote, but dropped the idea when I found out that they only supported (the rather useless) WEP WiFi encryption.

I'm now in the market again for another remote, but as far as I can tell from the info on the Philips web site, it still appears that none of the current remotes support WPA or WPA2 WiFi encryption. Is Philips really that lame, or am I missing something?

No, I did not try the search button under your post. I used the search button at the top of the page. It turned up a whole bunch of forum threads with titles such as "WEP problems no WPA" and "Any News On WiFi WPA Update??" and "WPA anytime soon" and "Where's WPA ???". I also downloaded the product spec sheets for the current remotes on the Philips Pronto web site and found no mention of WPA support.

Sorry if my search skills aren't up to your standards, but I made a good faith effort to find the info I was looking for, and was unable to do so. That's why I posted the question.

13. Which network encryption methods are supported?

WEP64, WEP128, WPA/WPA2 (PSK) are supported, however WPA Enterprise is not.

Thanks. That's exactly the type of info I was looking for.

I don't understand why Philip's own product pages and spec sheets for their remotes don't have that same info. For example, the data sheets for both the TSU9600 and the TSU9800, say "Encryption/security: WEP 128 bit, WEP 64 bit", so Philips has contradictory info on its own web site. That's particularly irritating because the lack of WPA support was obviously a stumbling block for many users. You'd think if they changed it, they'd make it pretty clear on the product pages, without requiring someone to hunt through their FAQs to realize their own product pages are inaccurate. Oh well. Rant off now...
