The new software versions are:

PEP 2.4.23
Panel firmware 7.3.3
Extender firmware 1.4.7

What is solved in the editor:

* Crash after dragging a new page to the position of the Home page
* File opening issue on Windows 7
* Download failures due to USB connectivity problems (known as C5, C7 and C11 download errors)

What is solved in the panels/extenders:

* ‘System in use by another user’ when pressing buttons. This could lead to spontaneous volume ramping up.
* Possible Crashing of Ethernet connection on TSU9800 and extenders.
* Ethernet stability issues

What is solved for ProntoScript:

* Assigning a non-image object as a widget image could cause a segmentation fault. When extracting image data from an Image instance, a check is now performed to verify if the object is indeed an Image instance. Previously, passing a non-Image instance could cause this segmentation fault.

Also important new suggestions have been added to the FAQ.

Moderator Edit

Link has been corrected. All is well.

The link for the extender firmware is still 1.4.5 from Dec 2009. I have emailed the team and asked them to correct the link.

Here's the post contributed that shows how to get the July 2010 firmware.

The new RFX9600 firmware is supposed to be version 1.4.7.

The Pronto site seems to still have 1.4.5 for the RFX9600 firmware.

Would this simply be mis-labeling ?

Moderator edit. - Removed link to download as it was pointing to non-permanent site for beta software. I have emailled the team to see what is up with the extender firmware release.

Therefore we advise to use WEP encryption or even better no encryption wherever possible.

I figured out the correct download link for the 1.4.7. firmware.

In Internet Exporer, right click on "RFX 9600 Firmware". Select "Save Shortcut". Then paste the link in the address bar and change Dec_2009 to July_2010 and change 1.4.5 to 1.4.7
Voilà!

.../July_2010/extfw-1.4.7-philips.bin

Obviously somebody forgot to update the URL...

EDIT:

I just noticed that the other two files I downloaded are named:
TSU9400Updater_V7.3.3-1.4.5.zip
TSU9800Updater_V7.3.3-1.4.5.zip

What's the deal with the -1.4.5.zip extension? Being a programmer myself, my gut react is that this indicates the V7.3.3 is intended to work with extender version 1.4.5?

Maybe the 1.4.7 extender upgrade is not needed and is not intended for release? I'll postpone installing any of these upgrades until we hear the final word from Philips...

Moderator Edit I believe that the extender upgrade is required to stabilize Wifi problems (Extender not Available) and will likely also be required to correct ramping issues. I just reverified the files I downloaded from the Beta test and they too, have the 1.4.5 naming on the file. I will email Belgium for further comment.

So what is the freakin deal! I am pissed.

I have had a few issues with volume ramping but nothing like what just happen. I almost blew up my artison's on my plasma. Volume started ramping up and the TSU9600 had no control. Ran down to my rack in the basement and had to manually switched off my Marantz SR9600. Noticed the RS232 light solid green on the RFX9600. Wouldn't turn off until I pulled the power plug out the back of the amp.

I know this is an know issue and can't belive that a new firmware just got released yesterday that addresses this since this particular issue had just happen. What is up with the great deal of confusion on lableling of file versions.

Who is responsible for this? I own two TSU9600's and want a freak'in answer on whether the firmare on the website is the correct to fix the volume issue.

If my equipment gets damaged I will persue Philips! This is no joke!

All,

I posted what I did in case some downloaded wrong RF extender firmware and then downloaded remote firmware and new PEP thinking all was good when it was not.

My apologies if folks get upset. I was trying to prevent further confusion on the subject. As a heads up, it is not the team in Belgium that updates the web site, the files are published and another team publishes the site.

On a positive note, I have been using this latest firmware on RFX9600 and TSU9600 for 2 weeks and have not had any Extender Not Available errors.

I wonder if I could try the "change the date" trick to get the old TSU9800 firmware and get my panel back up? Anyone know the date and version of the old firmware?

Why do that? For future reference, the older firmware can usually be found on this site in the files section under Original PC Software. ;-)

[Link: remotecentral.com]

I would find someone with an XP-based PC to do the update just in case there are complications due to Win7.

Thanks again Lyndel. I knew that, but in my haste couldn't find the older section. I need to find another tack, I've tried new firmware, old firmware, different USB cables, Vista, Win7 and XP, they all time out....odd.
