I am looking for the RS232 command for the FL Dimmer (dimms the front panel of the receiver) of a recent Denon Receiver. Could somebody please help? I couldnt find it in Denon's documentation. Thats the only command that is still in IR and would love to pull that plug off.

Thanks!

There is an AVR-5800 excel spreadsheet/ccf in the Classic Pronto Files section that contains the IR code for Dimmer. I don't recall off the top of my head what it is and am not at a machine where I can find the code but I know where I originally got the code.

Is the code not in the O1R database?

Couldnt find it anywhere. I am looking for the RS code, not the HEX (IR), that I have already.

Dohhhh! I totally missed the RS part. The RS code is undocumented varies or does not exist between models. What model do you have?

Start here and see if this will work.

It works now. Thanks a lot!!

I am now starting to change my Pioneer BDP-09FD from IR to RS232 but so far no luck. I guess a standard serial cable does not work for it and I would need to build one. Do you know anything about this?

Try a search for RTS and/or CTS and/or DTR? I believe that Pioneer or Yamaha require a special cable be built to hard-wire RTS and CTS.
