Hi there,
Am busy installing a job using a 9800 to control a ReQuest F Series server with a Media Player. Have any of you guys updated the 2-way driver with any decent results, ie. Im trying to add a tab with IR/IP commands to control the television interface of the server on the Media Player..

Thought I'd ask on here incase you guys have any magic to share =)

Cheers,

Doesnt look like it then =), just a quick one though that the PScript legends might be able to answer...

I have noticed that album metadata seems limited to 32 characters which cuts off some album information, eg;

The Complete In A Silent Way Sessions [Disc 1]

Displays as;

The Complete In A Silent Way Ses

...on a pronto 9800. Is this something that can be increased at all?
Have had a quick look at the script on the Advanced tab and cannot see
any reference to 32 characters..

Cheers,

Just checking so please don't take offense.

Are you sure it is 32 characters or is it based on text size?

For example
WWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
and
Now is the time for all good me

appear to be same width, visually, but 2nd line has about 10 more characters.

If this is the case, either decrease font size for widget or make it wider.

Hi Lyndel, =) no offense taken bud, just pleased someone actually answered the post =)

It looks like each piece of metadata is limited to 32 characters. Have decreased fonts and increased the field sizes but it stays the same. Have scanned through
the main prontoscript files on the properties, browser and player pages and there
arent any references to field size so ended up downloading all info I could find on third party integration with ReQuest servers and eventually found;

When Screen Type is 11h (Player Data):

0Eh (Data Hex Value)
14 (Ascii Value)
Current Album Name (Data Type)
32 max (Length of the following data in Bytes)

So it looks like a limitation on the server IP/Serial comms on servers running Serious Play Version 2.2.0
Its a shame because our customer has a lot of albums with names of 30-40
characters long and they get their ends cut off..

Thanks for trying to help though!

Cheers,

That sucks. You'd think that these days, a company would not limit its protocol to 1 character more than MP3 1.0 tagging spec.
