Hello to everybody,
I'm finally a proud owner of TSU 9400.
I have on my home a systme that use wireless extender RFX9400 in order to control some audio and video components on 4 zone, and i control all trough my remote TSU9400.
I have a SC-LX82 from pioneer, and I would like to have volume feed-back and zone status to the TSU 9400.
I know that these information are sende by SC-lX82 trough rs232 port.
I don't want to use another serial extender (i.e rfx 9600) only to connect to 1 rs232 port.
Is possible to use an hardware rs232 - ethernet adapter and send serial command directly from pronto TSU9400 (i guess i open a tcp socket to the ip and port of converter and then i end hex commands)???
Is there a pronto script library to do that??
Thank you for your answer.
Bye
Luca

Luca,

Not possible. Buy the RFX9600 or wait for the new controller that is proposed by end of year.

Lyndel why do I have the impression you're joking with him :)

Luca what you need (the hardware lan to 232 adapter), can be a Global Cache iTach IP2SL device:

I don't know if there is a pronto library around for them, but they come with enough documentation to write what you need.

if you get the one way TCP/ip script from the philips web site and a enet box for about $100., but much better to buy a RFX9600 then you get all the other i/o :)

BluPhenix,

Not joking at all when I originally posted. I make mistakes and am human. You guys help me "see the light" when I am wrong.

Subject line of this thread states:

"RS232 over ethernet with RFX9400"
not
"RS232 over ethernet with TSU9400"

The reason I answered the way I did was not just based on the content of the first post but also based on the explicit statement in the subject line coupled with only partial content in the first post.

If I had taken the full content of the post without the content of the subject line, then I might have answered as you did about Global Cache, etc...

I completely ignored the part about opening up a port to converter so I was dead wrong.

Would not be the first time, nor will it likely be the last!

Thanks for the catch!
;-)

Oh, I didn't see that typo in the title Lyndel, now I see why you said that. Heh seems I have a filter in my brain that only looks for the numbers in the philips product names. So when I saw RFX9400, rs-232 and ethernet, my brain automatically converted it to ... 9400, rs-232 and ethernet. Of course must be the TSU9400.

I thought you were joking, because he did not use the search.

Anyway Luca, now that we have settled on what you were asking - yes it's possible, check out previous replys. Enjoy!

Not so sure it was a typo. Hope that it was though! Only Luca can confirm.

Thank you to all.
This confirm can me pass trough the problem.
Sorry for my mistake it is true that in that case I only use the wireless and not the rfx9400.
I'll test it and then I will post the protocol.

Thank you very much.
