TV Hitachi Flat Plasma #42HDS69 TSU9600
Can not find code to turn speakers either off or on.
The closest I can get to automation is the following action:
Function: Menu on Hitachi - Flat TV - 2003 Plasma TV Delay: 2.00 Sec Function: Menu Down on Hitachi - Flat TV - 2003 Plasma TV Function: Menu Right on Hitachi - Flat TV - 2003 Plasma TV Delay: 1.20 Sec Function: Menu Down on Hitachi - Flat TV - 2003 Plasma TV Function: Menu Down on Hitachi - Flat TV - 2003 Plasma TV Function: Menu Down on Hitachi - Flat TV - 2003 Plasma TV Function: Menu Down on Hitachi - Flat TV - 2003 Plasma TV Function: Menu Down on Hitachi - Flat TV - 2003 Plasma TV Function: Menu Down on Hitachi - Flat TV - 2003 Plasma TV Function: Menu Down on Hitachi - Flat TV - 2003 Plasma TV Delay: 5.10 Sec Function: Exit on Hitachi - Flat TV - 2003 Plasma TV
Sure it works - sort of. I still have to arrow to Speaker Off (on of the three possible choices) and Press select and then Exit. Note: 3 possible choices on the Speaker menu: On, Off, TV as Center. So, this eliminates the above function sequence as a on/off only choice.
I've looked at all code sets for the Hitachi Flat TVs and not found any function to toggle the Speakers on or off.
Any ideas? I still don't know how to write script for the TSU.

Don't think that code will be available on Hitachi. Once upon a time, I owned a RPTV Hitachi and it did not even have discrete input codes.
Had to use CH+/CH- to get to a Tuner A or B (CH+/CH- did not move from Tuner B to Tuner A if input was currently Tuner B).
Next, I had to do Input followed by CH+/CH- again to ensure I was on Tuner A.
From there, I had to do Input multiple times to get to correct source.
Hopefully Hitachi has improved in the last 10 years but I will be surprised if you will find such a discrete code.

I've been through similar adventures with other units. In the end it is trial and error. Getting the delay timing right is the worst part.
If Menu Up wraps around, it may be faster to Menu Up a couple clicks rather than Menu Down a bunch.

Thanks for the replies.
There is always a workaround. I just created a second button - one to turn on the speakers and one to turn them off. It was the only way to toggle between the three options skipping the option I didn't want.
Speaker Menu>on/center/off
So, to turn on: Menu>down>down>down>arrow right To turn off: menu>down>down>down>arrow right>arrow right
