Hi All,

I've just bought an 9600 from eBay, and after it crashed the moment I plugged it in to the dock, I thought I'd better check the power supply (since it didn't have Philips written on it, but I know that these things are often bought in.). It runs fine out of the dock.

It seems to be made by a company called AMC, and is 9v, 800mA, +ve centre. What worries me is that the dock is marked up as 5v, 2A. I'm hoping that the overstressed PSU couldn't achieve much more than 5v and hasn't caused any permanent damage (other than perhaps a decrease in lifetime equivalent to a 40 a day habit).

Can anyone tell me what the markings are on their PSU? European or US; it's the output I'm after.

Any answers would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Mark.

PS: This spares site seems to imply that it should have been an official Philips part:

It is def a Philips spare, your seller has replaced the original - THe proper unit is model AY3192/05 - Made in china - 5v 2n output 100-240 input, its the plug in brick type.

I think you will have a shock when you get the price for a Philips replacement, I have a 110 volt version (US purchased) so you canhave that off me if you get a 110 transformer from Maplin etc.

Jon,

That's very kind of you (and for the fast reply and checking of your unit!), but I'll try to get hold of the original UK one. I'll have a chat with the original seller, I'm hoping he'll be ok about paying for an original unit seeing as it was advertised with it.

Once again - thanks for the info!

Cheers,

Mark.

There isn't a 110v version. All the PSUs are 110-240v compatible.

The only difference you'll see is the plug type. I've got a AY-3192/17 which has a US plug and a AY3192/05 which has a UK plug.

The latter was bought off eBay for £4.74 including postage.

John
