to the latest firmware (V6.0.21).

Last week I updated the firmware of my TSU9600 to the latest firmware, ever since the network connection of my TSU9600 is very 'unstable'.

Before the update I never had problems, now the connection drops regularly and takes sometimes up to 20 seconds or longer to reconnect.

I also hear a 'ticking' noise once a minute after the screen off the remote turns itself 'off', just like it is trying to connect (or keeping the connection) with my network.

I have changed the the IP address of the remote to a fixed address but I do not note any difference.

Are there other people with this behaviour or people who recognise this problem and do have a solution for it ?

Thank you in advance.

Did you reboot any extenders and your router at the same time? What router and firmware?

What else might have changed? Have you reverted to older firmware and still have problem?

Prontosw,

The standard suggestion is to make sure that everything is using the latest software: router, TSU9600, RF9400/9600.

One or my customers has had trouble similar to yours. I suspect that it is router related, he is using an Airport Extreme (an early draft-N version). After a Pronto upgrade there is grief from one 9600 or the other (does not seem to be the same unit each update), then things settle down after a few days. All the while he is tinkering with the router. Therefore, I don't know exactly what he has done with the router. Sometimes fixing the Pronto's IP addresses seems to work, other times DHCP is the magic bullet. Overall, fixed seems to be more reliable with the Airport Extreme. With other routers, in my experience, it does not seem to matter.

Lyndel,

No I haven't rebooted or changed the firmware of my extender (seems to work fine, the extender is not on the latest firmware) nor the router (WRT 610N with the latest firmware). I haven't changed anything else than the firmware and the conversion to PEP2.

I will reboot the router to see if this might help, if this doesn't work I will see if I can downgrade the firmware of the TSU9600...

Buzz,

I will try some other settings on my router too, I noticed f.i. that when the BGN mode is used and the SSID is hidden the TSU wouldn't connect at all. Switching to the BG mode only (and the SSID still hidden) makes it possible to connect ?

Thanks for your suggestions.

I have downgraded the firmware to version V5.0.6, with this firmware the connection doesn't drop all the time anymore. The 'ticks/clicks' of the remote when not in use is still there (although not all the time).

Anyone else who also hears a 'click' from their remote so every now and then when the remote is 'idle' ?

That is probably why. You MUST use matching firmware.

Thanks Peter I didn't know that you should use matching firmware.

Not sure if I have 'matching' firmware now as the extender is on V1.1.36 and the remote on V5.0.6 ?

I had the same problem, using in Adhoc mode (not via a router) with an RFX9400, upgraded from v4 firmware to v6 had intermittent connectivity to the extender.

I upgraded the extender to the latest firmware and had the same problem, i then downgraded the 9600 to firmware v5 and the problem is resolved

Something funny with v6 in my experience

I, too, have noticed some lockups of remotes with latest firmware but have not been able to pinpoint the problem.

I am in communication with Belgium on the lockup issue. I cannot ascertain steps to reproduce reliably. If there is ANYONE who has steps to reproduce this problem, they would be greatly appreciated. (Email, not RCMail me please).

We suspect the lockup problem to be based on router type but need a bit more info.

Anyone who is having a lockup problem, please indicate type of router you are using (make and model) as well as firmware version if available.
Also, please provide the type of network and the types of traffic you have active. The example I provide below mentions B/G and notes I'm using G-Only.

Linksys WRT54GS Version 1.0 - Firmware - unknown at this time
B/G capable - G-Only allowed
