Does anyone know if the new TSU9600 will be able to send signals to a normal IP network using the wifi? On the screenshot it's clearly IP based the question is if it can only send such data to the extenders and not to a generic router and then to any computer of your choice.

I have an iPronto that has Wifi. It looks like any Wifi node on a Wifi network. I presume Philips will be using the same technology. The iPronto can even web browse, although I don't find that feature useful in a device used as a remote control.

I read something that you could operate a device anywhere in the world that has access to the internet - so I guess so.

We do that with Crestron and Vantage lighting all the time, some Dedicated Micros DVR's as well.

I believe the new Pronto is designed to communicate with the control box via WiFi, but not access the internet. It is a different animal than the I-Pronto.

I believe the TSU9600 uses WiFi to "carry" the control signals only.

Seems like we need to wait at least 2 more weeks then before we know. But it does seem like you can't access just any wireless router with it. However I would be happy enough if the RFX9600/RFX9400 could get the signal and send it out through a normal ip based network. The RFX9600 does atleast have a network port. With a bit of luck it could then be possible to receive that signal using a custom made program. Preferably made by Philips. Such a feature/program would just open up so many more possibilites.

Can I ask where you got info on this Pronto training? I'm a Home Automation Engineer and we looked at a bunch of remotes at CEDIA and decided on the new Pronto given it's form factor, screen, integration (Escient/Lutron) and WIFI. I'd like to get more info on programming/capabilities and possible get some training.

Yes, thanks... the Project Manager just said that we were going to do the training via AV$D I think. He wasn't sure when though as we are all still waiting for our initial hardware.

nherc.. if you check the website for your local it should be listed... for instance it lists a trainig on Oct. 24th for Westbury NY.
