Is this training open to individuals or solely to CI's. If open, is there any info on the subject?

You have to register for it with a distributor, so I assume it is for dealers only. But I am sure we will all come back here to tal k about it anyways.

I went to the training today, and was surprised by the relatively low attendance for it. In any event, the 9600 seems to be a very impressive piece. The trainer gave out a copy of the editor (finally!) and it was very informative. It seems that they took into account quite a bit of the customer installers' input. Two important notes that were brought to light were that you can no longer upload files from the remote and you can no longer program the Pronto by itself (you need a PC).

No units were available for purchase at the time, but were expected...which means they are imminent.

Trainer made fun of the fact that there were only 2 people left after lunch up in NY. Our class seemed to go pretty well. Was surprised to see several dealers who had never seen a 7500 before...

Bring on the RFX9600!!!

Ohh and BTW.. we got to pick up TSU9600s today at our training!!!

And I was one of those 2. It was a bit disconcerting to see so few people interested in the NY Metro area. It looks like Philips needs to be a bit more aggressive in getting people to trust their product again.

And that will have to wait until the product is out in the field for a while, and can be shown to work as advertised.

And maybe provide some support for those of us out in the field. We can't always come back here to get help. Kills the profit for the day, food on the table is important.

They talk about remote central rather extensivly in this training. Alos the new code data base was provided to them by the manufactures and it is BIG! I will hopefully get a chance to see if any of the codes actually work maybe this weekend.

Can that code database be EASILY tapped by Pronto 7000/7500 programmers?

Nope... well I mean you can't use them on the 7500 and 7000. There is no hex shown it just reads DataBase Codes.

The whole My Database and the Sounds Folder kind of makes sharing configs between users here difficult. About the best we can expect might be graphics from config files. I expect that many users will want to use the My Database and this will make sharing a bit more difficult.

Wasnt there something like export and import to database. They mentioned how several programmers could sync up the My database files... will have to look at my notes...

Yes, there is Import and Export. But, imagine having to supply the following 3 items in a zip of your config to share on this site:

1. Sounds Folder (if you use custom sounds)
2. Export of MyDatabase - Access DB (if you use Database Codes)
3. The actual XCF zip.

Hence, my comment about simply sharing layouts and not so much codes.

Lyndel: I have no t played with the SW yet. but do the files need to be linked? i.e. if people export and give to Dan only the MyDB file, can someone else then import it and use it with their XCF?

and I guess the same question for sounds.

If so, then I disagree. I have submitted (and many others) files CCFs PCFs just to make the IR codes available to others. MyDB is easy it could push that much more. people making a myDB per device, then upload them here (or on their HDD) and when making configs pick a XCF, Import the appropriate MyDB and sounds and link it all together.

Or did I miss something in your comments
