I've programmed a TSU9200 with an RF extender for a customer. After the extender has been powered on for some time, occaisionally on a button press a "Command Failed" message will appear and that button press doesn't execute. As time goes on, the frequency of these failures increases until the remote is unusable. Disconnecting and reconnecting the power from the base station seems to make it 99% functional again, and then it declines from there all over. I've tried all three channels, and the problem still keeps occurring. The remote has the current (April) firmware on it, and it's within five metres of the extender which is inside a wooden cabinet. There is at least one wireless network in detection range and a couple of cordless phones.

Any ideas or similar experiences?

Do you have the latest firmware on both the remote and the extender?

I'm talking about the RFX9200. There's no firmware available for it on pronto.philips nor is there an obvious way to get anything inside it.

But to use the RFX9200, the TSU9200 need both new firmware for itself and a newer version of the Configurator that is availible from philips website.

This might be the isssue for you.

I have tried all the channels actually, but its the same :(
I have also tried many other extender IDs too.

I guess there may be a hardware fault with either the remote or the extender. Any idea how can I find out whether it is the remote or the extender?

Thanks.

I'm having the exact same problem with mine. Tried every damn thing I can think of, including tracking down potential RF interference. Nothing has worked! I love the remote, but I can't keep it if I can't make it reliable...

I had this happen -- and I was using 100% IR commands! After some careful digging, I noticed that one of the devices had been set for RF.

I recommend that you go through ALL of your devices and make sure that they have the correct RF or IR setup.

I haven't worked with the RFX9200 (yet), but earlier RF units do not change their ID when you simply move the switch. They check the switch setting at power up. One must power down the unit and restart before a new assignment will take effect.

I have exactly the same issue with a TSU9200, DO NOT BUY IT!!!!

I wish I didn't tell my client to buy this damn piece of junk, because now I will have to cough of the Money to get them a new remote.

Philips needs to come out with a new firmware!!!!

I deployed the TUS9200 and RFX9200. I had a few "Command Failed" incidents, but it is too early to know if this will be the usual thing.

I will say that I've found the configuration program to be rather unstable. I had outright crashes of the configuration program and defective downloads. In one case the RF channel used by the remote was switched. (the program showed channel 3, but I had to switch the RFX9200 to channel 1 for communication) By the way, the channel seemed to switch instantly. I did not need to remove power as I had expected. (See post above). Closing the configuration program, restarting, and downloading again cured the problem and I could switch back to the expected channel 3.

Another little quirk is the message thrown when the battery charge is too low for downloads. The configurator claims "corrupt configuration" leading one to believe that the configuration program has shot itself in the foot (again). Placing the TSU9200 on the charger will not cure the issue (or begin charging) until the USB cable is unplugged first.

Overall, I feel that I wasted too much time working around quirks and limits of the wizard type of configuration program. A novice consumer may be satisfied with this sort of programming approach, but I will not program another one of these units for a price that the consumer will find attractive compared to a TSU9400 plus programming.

The "Command Failed" happens because the TSU9200 loses connection to the RF extender. If you set your configuration to not use the extenders then you will get no more command fails.

It Seems like philips needs to fix the extender but there is no way that I can tell to udate it's firmware.
