My manual my Sony BDP-S570 shows a few different codes for tv's but it doesn't say how to change them. My Yamaha reciever has a code of 5019. Can someone please help me?

Thanks, Rick.

Re. Sony:
Check out this version of the manual.

Re. Yamaha:
What, exactly, is the issue?

I would like to program volume control on the Sony remote to operate the Yamaha RX-V665 reciever.

Thanks, Rick.

Thanks for the manual, it is better than the one that came with the player, it actually has instructions for setting the remote. I have tried all the Yamaha codes and can't get it to work. The manual has 2 digit codes for some tv's and the Yamaha reciever has a 4 digit code is this a problem?

Please help.

Thanks, Rick.

I'm afraid this is something I'm not entirely familiar with, but if I'm reading the Sony manual correctly, Page 35: About the BRAVIA Sync features (for HDMI connections only) I do not see any reference to controlling volume. Furthermore, the troubleshooting section, Page 31: BRAVIA Sync (“Control for HDMI”) states that if you've connected the TV via the receiver: if the AV amplifier (receiver) is not compatible with the “Control for HDMI” function, you may be unable to control the TV from the player.

Note that in all instances, it is the TV that's being controlled not the receiver, so whatever the above I think it's unlikely you be able to control the receiver volume from the Sony remote.

DJY, thanks for all the good info.

On the controller itself it has a volume control, so I was assuming if i programed the right code it would work the reciever. I don't have the HDMI running to the reciever, just optical. The HDMI from the BDP goes straight to my CRT projector. Maybe the 2 digit TV codes is all it can do?

Thanks, Rick.

Must confess I missed the remote volume buttons, but they are nonetheless labelled for TV, so I would imagine that's all they'll control.
