Hi everybody!

I am new here and from Sweden.
Now my original remote is broken, sad to say.
This has given me a big problem

I have a programmable Marantz RC1400 remote from my Marantz SR7400, this one I to use together with my Marantz DV-7600.
Most things work fine, but I can not get one button from my original control.
It is the SMODE button, for switcing the SACD cd:s between 2:channels and 5.1.
I hope there is a way to enter this in hexcode on my RC1400, or what?

It would be very helpful if anyone here, and that I believe there is someone that could help me with this.
Search around the Internet, but only gets more confused about this.
There must be someway to program my remote to make this button work.

I hope there are some solution to this problem.

regards
Lennart

The RC1400 is a universal and learning model, but I'm not sure one could describe it as being truly programmable; that is to say the codes in the manual do not mention SACD devices, so to get the SMODE button to work I believe one would need to learn it. But if the original remote is broken...

I read in other thread in this forum that another person have this problem.
But in the RC1400 there is something called "hexcodes input".

I also own the Marantz remote RC3200.
Is this one easier to program for this?
Could I program this device instead?

There may be some misunderstanding here.

In the other thread (this one?) I believe they are discussing the learning/inputting of DV7600 codes to a URC (MX-800) remote. As for RC1400 "hexcodes input" I'm not aware of such and would be grateful for a link.

The RC3200 may indeed be a better option, but I know nothing about. Questions about this remote are best asked here, though I see you already have.

Thanks anyway.

I was wrong about the input with hexcodes on RC1400, I misread it, there nothing like that, sorry for that.
This is only working with the RC3200, if I am not wrong again.

This is a bit confusing I must say.
Thought that a Marantz DVD would be easy to use and "talk" to some of the remote control I have, and they are all Marantz products, and made during the same time period.
There is just one button missing to get all I need to function, that is "smode".
I listen very much to SACD, but now I can´t get anything else than 2channels.

Reading a lot around the net, but there is no solution.
Not even som codes for the RC3200 that works with the DV7600, not what I have seen so far, but hopefully there are som solution to this matter.
But I am not the only one with this "problem".

Here are the IR signals for the DV-7600 (and all other Marantz DVD players). Use AV Separates and select DV-7600 from the drop down list.
The Sound Mode button sends RC-6 System code 4, funtion number 80.  It is described as "Switch the Play mode SACD 2ch > Multi > CD > (Toggle)".

If you have a remote that can accept Pronto Hex:
0000 0073 0000 0013 0060 0020 0010 0020 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0020 0020 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0020 0020 0010 0010 0010 0010 0020 0020 0020 0020 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0BCD

Or if you have a cable remote made by UEI like Comcast or Atlas, use setup code 20539 or Video 0539, manually program EFC 00144, and teach the signal to your Marantz remote.

All RC-6 IR signals employ a toggle bit in the IR signal, which must flip between 0 and 1 on each successive transmission of a signal. The UEI remotes know how to do that, but a learned signal doesn't flip the bit since it was learned in one of the two toggle states.  Since you'll probably want to press the Sound Mode button more than once to cycle through the possibilities, you'll need to press some other button which sends RC-6 system code 4 after each press of the Sound Mode button.  One way to get around this is to set up a macro that sends some other signal in addition to the Sound Mode signal.  I'd use EFC 00040 which I believe the DVD player won't respond to, or this Pronto Hex:
System 4, function 077
0000 0073 0000 0012 0060 0020 0010 0020 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0020 0020 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0020 0020 0010 0010 0010 0010 0020 0020 0010 0010 0020 0010 0010 0020 0020 0BDD.

Thank you for a great answer to my problem. :)

Now I will try to get this to work on my RC3200.
What I can understand that I can not get this to work on my RC1400?

But must say, what a big problem to get this to work.
And that someone know how to get this solved.

Great work!
Thanks
Lennart

You can teach the signal to your RC1400 if you have access to a OneForAll remote which has setup code Video 0539.  Most do have that setup code.
