I have been in commercial controls for so long I can't remember and have dabbled in home automation for nearly as long. I now have a large mixed application that requires advanced home automation and considerable integration with commercial controls.

I am considering both the IPronto and a CE device with the control software and IR flash card. I have a few questions that I hope someone can answer.

CE Device:
1. Do the CE devices require a stylus, or can one just touch the screen?
2. Does the compact flash add on unit stick out of the top of the unit making it workable?

IPronto
3. I need to use the unit to view a web based control system that displays in the browser using Java. It is called DotVision (www.dotvision.com). The software says that you must use Sun's java implementation. Does anyone know if java apps (in general) and specifically if this java app will run on the Ipronto?

4. I also want to display streaming video on the IPronto from cameras such as the ones made by Axis (www.axis.com) that by default use an ActiveX control. Does anyone know if this will work on the IPronto?

Thank You Very Much in advance
Earl

To you who want to use extender card, Netremote
has come out with a IR version of their software.

Supports CCF and looks very good. The question
regarding extender card applies to that too: can
it be used w/ extender card?
There is a trial sw available and I will soon
try it out.

Check in thread posted yesterday, "Netremote IR"
link to the site.
If anybody tries the SW before me, let me know
if it works with IR extender card

My NetRemote IR- plugin doesn't support the IR- extender cards (yet).
The problem is that the driver has to be individually adapted to the PCMCIA/CF- hardware of each device.

Dave,

I understand that you and your son run EDV, which was producing the CF IR cards for sale by Laser in the UK. Unfortunately, I can't find any current websites that offer the product, or a home page for EDV. Is EDV still active? Are the cards still available?

Also, you mentioned that there is a BoM available to build a PDA-IR device. Is that still available? If so, how can I get one?

Thanks,
Lonnie King

Where can you/i get a cf ir module for the HP iPAQ? I'm using the Vitto remote software (or trying to) and would like to hold my PDA the right way up....

There is nothing available from the link listed. Looking at when it was posted, I guess that they might no longer stock it. I would be willing to change software to something that comes with a cf-ir if I can only find something!
