I think this is an advert. Got nothing against it, but I feel it should be clearly marked as such.
I wonder if this software supports PPC, it says not, but WinCE is the generic name for all PPC versions I'm not sure what is meant here.
Does it or will it support CCF files?
Does it or will it solve the repeating button problem, since this persists on all emulated Pronto's and on many PDA's the hard buttons also don't repeat smoothly?

Yes, it's an advert of course :)
I have an working Pocket PC version, but this is not for the public yet.
The CCF layout- file format is not supported because it's to unflexible for the upcoming extensions. Furthermore is the CCF format not completely documented. All CCF "compatible" PocketPC remote controls uses reverse engineered CCF parser and are not 100% compatible.
Only the IR- CCF- hex- code format is supported. So you can import any existing IR- code.
RemoteControl II is currently the only available solution which has no problems with repeated and toggled codes. You can tap and hold the hard or soft button and the code will be send repeatedly until you release the button. And the device will not freeze!
RemoteControl II can be compared rather with an iPronto but with more speed :)

I'd be real interested in the pocket_pc version. I have both extender cards listed and Total Remotes audio dongle. Thing is I can't find software that actually works. Total Remote was the most promising but I can't get the desired range. Ultra-Mote had plenty of range with the extender but the software is very poor. Anyways keep me in mind if you release a pocket_pc version.

Looking forward to see that working. I've heard before that your IR engine is the best windows CE implementation yet. Have you ever thought of releasing that part alone? Could be very usefull in combination with various HTPC applications as an IR plugin. It would simply have to be the IR engine in a little program that accepts commandline IR codes!

Hi folks,

i am using RCII on a Simpad since April this year. I had, like most of you, an real odysseys on all existing IR remote programs, but this software really rocks!

If Frank releases a PPC version, I am sure that this will do a great job. Also the response time of Wincesoft is, in terms of bugfixing, remarkable. Looking forward for this PPC version.

wilkscm, to give a short answer: YES!!!!

If you have a PPC you may wait a little time and download the PPC version from wincesoft when its ready. Usually, Frank issues free trial versions of his progarms.

bought a simpad and running the software this really is the ultimate remote all the others pale into com comparison. Tried all the other software on this thread and this is the only one that does what it says with no problems and in style. Can not recommend enough. I am in no way connected with the company.

Best Wishes

Yes, the IR- engine/DLL is available from WinCESoft. Currently exclusively for the upcoming NetRemote Pro and NetRemote IR from Promixis.

You know.... It would be nice when someone is posting an image, let's say of a PDA-ir card, if they would ask the "owner" of that image permission before using it to promote a feature of their fee-based product.

And before you bother, yes, you have my permission to use the image. Just a warning that you can't be too careful nowadays.

Frank has my permission. ;)

He also has Gerber files and a Bill of Materials should anyone want to build their own PDA-ir.

Hi Jordan,

you are right. Sorry, haven't thought about it.
Thanks for your permission. Have exchanged your PDA- ir image with my own.

Hehe. Long time no see, Dave. Granted, I haven't hung out around here in quite some time, but glad to see you posting here again.

Also, for anyone who might have taken my earlier post the wrong way, I really was not trying to be a jerk. I could care less if anyone uses a photo that I take, hence my saying that Frank can use the image. An old friend of mine got in some trouble several years ago for using photos without permission on his product webpage, so I just try to point it out every now and then to people who might do it without thinking. I've personally caught myself doing the same thing now and again, so it's no big deal to me. I've always found that more times than not, the author of the photo could care less.

So FrankW, feel free to continue using that image. And keep up the good work on the software. I have not tried it out yet, but hope to get some time this weekend to test it out. :)

To you who want to use extender card, Netremote has come out with a IR version of their software.
Supports CCF and looks very good. The question regarding extender card applies to that too: can it be used w/ extender card?
There is a trial sw available and I will soon try it out.
Check in thread posted yesterday, "Netremote IR" link to the site.
If anybody tries the SW before me, let me know if it works with IR extender card
