I recently turned my basement into a media room. I am using a epson projector, sony blue ray player/home theater, and cable box. I have hidden away the the cable box and BR player in a small closet. The problem is I have to open the door to get the remotes to work. So I bought a IR cable for both devices. However the sony player does not have the IR port in the back like the cable box does. I have run the IR cable out of the closet and can now control the cable box video. However I still have to open the door to adjust the volume from the receiver since the projector has no volume that i know ok. My question is, can I somehow control the audio thru the cable box? Or is there a device I can get to control the whole thing thru the wall of the closet, or by internet?

There are several Sony Blu-Ray modules that are Home Network (WiFi) UPnP compatible. Sony has posted free iPhone and ANDROID apps. What ever smart phone you own or iPod Touch would be able to control your Sony Blu-Ray over your home network. The ANDROID or iPhone device just has to be on the same network with your Sony Blu-Ray player. It has WiFi and hard cable connectivity options to your network. The Sony full feature Remote has all options you find on your Sony IR - Remote.
I hope you have one of the UPnP compatible modules?
I have my Sony Blu-Ray player connected to a multi zone Audio system and can control it from my iPhone any where at my home.
