I am a newbie and needng help!!

I am getting ready to install a HT in my basement. I will have a Pioneer Plasma TV on the wall and all other A/V equipment will be setup in a seperate room. I would like to control the A/V equipment, TV and possibly lights from either an iphone or ipad.

I have been looking at the different options and it appears that either the Itach or Bitwise will meet my needs. I am confused as the the required equipment and setup of either one of these vendors. Can anyone point me to a guide that outlines the requirements and installation of this type of setup.

I have looked in the forums and not found anything. Any assistance is greatly appericated.

Hi Richard, I am bitwise dealer and can speak about that system. Bitwise is an IP to IR/RS232 processor which communicates via iphone/ipad the same way a remote talks to a base unit via radio frequency. 4 addressable IR ports and a very sophisticated and ever improving software package complete the setup. Ideally you want to run CAT 5 to any equipment not located near the base unit (which is hooked up to your network via hardwire) for IR or RS-232 control. The unit can also use TCP/IP for it's new 2-way platform and has a growing number of modules available that work very well.

This is more of a serious programming system and doesnt do a lot of the work for you. However, the software features make it very capable of controlling just about anything.

I can tell you that the iTach units are great little pieces of equipment. Well built and very easy to set up and use. And when paired with software like TouchControl, you can control all of your equipment with a minimal footprint, and from completely customized and personalized remote control interfaces on your iOS devices. And I think that you'll find that you just about can't beat the price of that combo. Plus, if any of your equipment is network attached and controllable over the network via HEX or serial commands, you can control those devices directly from TouchControl without any extra equipment at all! And 2-way communication is supported with the ability to do custom scripting for true automation.
