Ok guys. i have been looking for an app that will basically turn my ipad into and ipronto style device. Found a company who do exactly that.
Firstly I am out of the office, and because of this do not have the companies address. I will be posting this later as they have all the hardware necessary to make this app work perfectly, and basically they gave me the info so they deserve the credit.
First visit the following site to download the gui application that is very similar to Iprontoedit.

[Link: commandfusion.com]

you wont be able to download until you register

Now you can design philps style front ends for the ipad. Unfgortunately you are limited as to what you can do until you licence it

Now go to the app store on your ipad/iphone and download iviewer.

I have not yet tried to integrate the software as i have only just found it.

I will follow on this post with the hardware that only costs £150 plus vat. this converts Wifi to infra red and blasts it around the room from up to 10 metres.

Anyone who likes this post and wants more info let me know.. also post your gui's once you have designed them

TouchControl Universal Remote is a universal app supporting the iPhone, iPod, and iPad. Control IR devices via a USB IR dongle, Global Caché adapter, Keene IR Anywhere, IRTrans, or control via serial/RS 232 with Global Caché or Keene KIRARS232, or control direct via TCP/UDP, and control your PC and other devices by executing commands, programs, AutoHotKey, and EventGhost. More control options that most other remote apps, plus 2-way communication with your devices, for a fraction of the cost of Command Fusion. Check it out in the app store, and get the free PC software at http://www.touchapptech.com.

Ipad version looks nice. They have rs232 control for Directv as well. You just select different devices that you want to import.

Kevin,

I've got a few CF (commandfusion) remotes (ipads/iphones) now, and I use them to control pretty much my entire house. VERY powerful product and totally configurable. New version out soon supports javascript operations making complex commands incredibly easy.

It's also a single solution that works for both pad and phone - obviously you'd be wanting different gui files due to resolutions, but you can have the same look and feel which is great.

I'm 'graphically challenged' so went with a commercially available graphics pack (www.blackmancustoms.com) which made the process much easier.

I'm surprised to see these guys (CF) not getting much of a mention on these boards as the product is awesome - just need to get it out there!

Cheers,
Ben.

Youre right about CommandFusion. All of the other apps aren't even in the same universe as CF from a raw power standpoint. It's not for novices though as all of those capabilities of CF come at a cost of a steeper learning curve and the license cost is higher.

That said, no one else is close to CF.
