I noticed that this remote has a number pad with letters above much like a cell phone. Does anyone know if this remote could stand alone without the use of a keyboard and if so, how easy would the set-up be?

The drivers didn't seem to provide any way to do that...

You'd have to write your own program or have someone else write one.

If you're using a Mac, then someone (end-user) has already done this. If not, http://remotew.free.fr is a goood place to start looking.

I think if you use Girder at http://www.promixis.com/ with the Remote Wonder plugin there is a group available called "Nokia Style Alphabet" which should do what you want, if it doesn't work try the Girder forum.

I highly recommend the use of Girder over the Remote Wonder software, as Girder is way more customizable, and will do near enough anything you need it to.
