I would like to setup a remote with my HTPC for use primarily with TheaterTek DVD software.

Has anyone here used either or both of these remotes and can you offer an opinion of which one may work better with TheaterTek?

I am interested in being able to use TheaterTek Hot Keys and Video slider control adjustments with the remote.

I am aware that the iMON is IR based and the ATI is RF based and that I can only learn commands from the iMON to my HTM MX-700 if that is what I might want to do.

Has anyone here used the iMON to learn all TheaterTek commands to the HTM MX-700?

Can the iMON or ATI Remote coexist with a LIte-On Airboard IR PC keyboard?

Thank you.

The ATI remote can coexist with the Airboard. I'm guessin gthe imon product also can.

The ATI products allow longer range operation as well as usage from another room (useful for switching MP3's). Or controlling your HTPC if it's behind a cabinet or in a closet.

If a plugin doesn't exist for the application you want to use, you'll need to use uICE or Girder with the ATI remote to remap all of its buttons to do what you want to do. Read Daniel's review.

You're in luck, there's a TheaterTek plugin here: [Link: remotew.free.fr]

I'm not clear on the value of the plug-in (ATI) versus not having the plug-in (iMON) with regard to TheaterTek software, can someone enlighten?

I'd say there is no benefit... it's just a different way of doing things. The plus of having it preconfigured and ready to go is nullified by the negative of not being able to change it.

As Daniel stated. I was implying that a plugin architecture may in fact be a detriment. But for your Theatertek use, a plugin already exists.

I don't have first-hand experience with the iMon software so I don't know if it's as capable as Girder or uICE (which work a huge number of remotes, even standard everyday non-PC IR models)
