I just built my first HTPC and want to only use my MX-850 remote system that i have all over the house. I want to make selecting very simple for the wife and not have to use a keyboard and a mouse.I am also looking for a very simple program to use to make it easy to find my movies and have nice art work.

Thanks for any help you may offer.

Since XBMC comes configured to understand MCE remote codes, the MX-850 should be able to emulate it. There's a lot of info in the XBMC wiki (IE [Link: wiki.xbmc.org] ) as well as the XBMC forums.

Check out Flirc https://flirc.tv/ . I have one sitting in a draw that I havent played with yet (for my Amazon Fire) but it should get the job done for you. It's on Amazon and it's fairly inexpensive.

I have a client that uses a WD-TV for his "ripped" movies on a NAS backup. its pretty cool and customizable for the cheap of it, but I'm not too into the whole media storage device. Seen too many come and go and none of which did an amazing job without being driven into the ground by lawyers.

Old post, but if you need an IR receiver I'd probably go for the Flirc too. The MCE adapters will work, but can sometimes be a bit glitchy (personal experience).
