Hi, I use a Microsoft MCE remote and IR receiver to control XBMC on my HTPC. Functions well. I'm in the process of relocating my home theatre equipment into a cabinet which means I'll need an IR repeater system to control the AV devices. I will need to control four AV devices. The MCE IR receiver comes with only two single IR emitters, meaning I can only control two devices.

Is it possible to directly plug in dual emitters (such as the Channel Vision IR-3002) in place of the single emitters supplied by Microsoft and still have the MCE receiver drive them? Or will I have to invest in an IR repeater of some sort (like the Channel Vision IR-5000)?

TIA,
Robert

Dual IR emitter should work fine. The output will not be quite as strong as you are sharing the voltage between 2 emitters insted of 1 but you should be ok as long as your emitters are attached directly over the ir reveicer on the devices.

As an installer, I would try it.

You can get these for $7

It's worth trying out for $7 before you spend $75 on a cheap repeater system.
I keep pointing my remote at the turntable but, it never advances to the next track.
