I am looking for a remote control that I can use for both my PC and for my A/V equiptment (TV, amplifier, DVD, cable). I currently use an ATI for my PC, which is great but PC-only, and a separate remote for my TV and yet another for my amp/receiver. I like the harmony's but to my knowledge they wont control a PC

the PC needs would at a minimum control mouse movement and mouse right/left buttons, up/down/left/right buttons, and volume.

any and all suggestions are welcome.

There are no PC remotes that are also good at controlling home theater systems. So, you need to buy a standard IR PC remote (mostly for the IR receiver) and then a good home theater remote with which you'll learn the PC remote.

Lots of people use harmony remotes to control their HTPCs. Search the forums at [Link: htpcnews.com]

Plug a USB-UIRT transceiver into your pc and you can control your PC and just about any other infrared capable device using the remotes you already have. AIVMS software interfaces with the USB-UIRT and provides many features in addition to IR remote remapping :

Execute any AIVMS menu command such as PLAY, STOP, NEXT, PREVIOUS, MUTE, etc.

Control Winamp and other multimedia apps with ANY infrared remote; even assign buttons to queue favorite songs or playlists.

Control of X10 based home automation systems with ANY infrared remote.

Control relay switched power circuits.

Place a VOIP call to one of your contacts at the press of a remote button.

Control mouse cursor movement and button clicks, send keystrokes, run a macro or program.

Complete control of a PC desktop using ANY IR remote.

Create desktop shortcuts that send IR signals when clicked.

Trigger IR signal bursts based on Phidget sensor changes, VOIP events, X10 events, etc.
