The weather outside is getting frightful. Forget strolling around, caroling, and looking at all of the holiday displays. We don’t even want to put on a coat and head out to a heated mall.

However, it just isn’t a holiday season without lights. Thankfully, you no longer have to leave the house in search of seasonal greetings. Many people spend countless hours, lightbulbs, and dollars to get good lighting displays going for the holidays. While many seem like they illuminate from three towns away, you shouldn’t need to stand on the roof to witness some of the best decor. Instead, many put them on the web for all to enjoy.

We went in search of the best automated lighting displays on the web, and found 10 that should put you in a holiday mood—good or bad, depending on your taste. Get ready to go walking in a wired wonderland.



Providence Christmas
What began as the Vader family’s automated lighting display soon spread to a block-wide event. Using 128 channels of animation, a few wireless devices, and a few hundred feet of Cat 5, a total of four homes are synchronized for 2010, belting out classic holiday tunes while the lights play along.
