I found a previous thread that supplied a download for a batch of custom images, but I don't know how it works ([Link: remotecentral.com]). Do I create a PNG file then... put it where? When I go to Program Files (x86) > Complete Control Program > MX-780 > Images > Alpha, it is only populated with a .vfd file which I cannot open. Where are the actual images stored? (so that I can drop in my custom image)

Thanks!

do a search for MX880 graphics.  The 780 is nearly identical.  you need to have a piece of software to extract the .vfd file, then add your graphics to that file, and zip it back up as a .vfd.  all the info is in the mx880 thread and the link to the software should be there too.

actually, come to think of it, that might just be for doing custom backgrounds.  if you just add your .png file to the proper folder, it should show up.  i can check my work laptop on monday.

So if you are just trying to add some icons, you will want to save them to this path:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Universal Remote Control, Inc\Complete Control Program\MX-780\Images\Alpha\Icons\Main

(you could replace Main with Brand)

the icon size is 64x33 and I have mine saved as .png

in the software, you will find the icons show up in the alpha folder.

hope that helps.
