And religion only exists in the mind of people. Fabricated by people, for the people, to keep the masses in check (and keep those in power a little more powerful and richer)

And BTW, unicorns don't exist either. But some do believe in them...but who am I to deny their glitter and rainbow belief system?

In the end, it doesn't matter as long as they don't try to force me to believe in their unicorns and I don't try to make them believe that they are a myth. (or pass legislation that manipulates the general public for unicorn beliefs, etc)

John, Im curious, did you take a look at the article that I linked?
Civil War reenactment is LARPing for people with no imagination.

Just this weekend I came across an article titled "scientists discover atheists don't exist". To summarize, they conclude that the idea of some higher force is so ingrained in human nature, we can't get rid of it.

For the record, God doesn't believe in atheists. He knows better. 😜

John, I thought that was politics!

Looks like the rainbows do exist now that the Supreme Court ruled on marriage.

In the end, it doesn't matter as long as they don't try to force me to believe in their unicorns and I don't try to make them believe that they are a myth. (or pass legislation that manipulates the general public for unicorn beliefs, etc)

No one likes legislation that challenges their beliefs. It just depends on which side you are on, whether you applaud the legislation or deride it.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

Impaqt,
Please leave it here.

So far this has been interesting and enlightening. I don't know what got us to be so reasonable, but it only seems to have a tiny bit of the hallmarks of a thread that has to go. What a testament it would be to our reasonableness if we ended up saying all we have to say on the subject without really going off!
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Its building. Just like they always do. This is exactly the reason religion and politics are topics that consistently cause issues. Everyone always thinks they are right and therefore, everyone else is wrong.

I dont understand why it would be so hard to have conversations like this to the off topic forum. That's what its there for.

That's an odd comment. Nobody goes there, which I know is an exaggeration. You say they could easily go there if they really wanted to talk about this stuff here at remotecentral.

Okay, but the people who post and respond in this forum seem to really want to post and respond, yet don't go to the OT forum. From that I conclude that they/we really want to post and respond about such stuff in this forum.

Happy holiday ends in a thread being moved. Someone went too far and for a change it was not me.
