Thought it was bad when the groups/ gangs were all packed in house projects (they called them projects for a reason).

Look what happens when you force them out of the projects and distribute them throughout the city in subsidized housing. Now enemies are neighbors.

Great idea.

True! 4 cop cars showed up. They looked at us in disbelief. They WOULD NOT get out of their cars. They made us kind of jog along side their cars to buffer us from the dudes trhowing bottle and rocks at us. We heard a couple of "pops" too. So we jogged to safety, the cops all jumped out of their cars and said : where are you stupid asses from anyway? How you didn't get killed back there is beyond us!

That's pretty much how I remember it:-)

Sounds like Cincinnati....Central Parkway Area. 1 in 4 chance of being a victim of Violent Crime. It's also home to the only Market that has the largest selection of meet, fish, wine, fruits and veggies.

Chicken egg situation. Building the housing projects was a bad idea in the first place. The money should have been spent educating low income people so they could move up in life. But... The politicians uncle with the construction business doesn't make any money that way.

Bruce, you need to stop this shit. Post it in intermission folder where this belongs.

Daniel, please give me access to move these posts since Bruce proved that he can't control himself.

If your dealers would stop selling to anyone just because they have a pulse, this wouldn't happen. Because people want money more than anything else, it does. The BS attitude that EVERYONE should have guns is just that- BS. Far too many have already proved they shouldn't, but they can get them, anyway. If criminals weren't released so early, MKE wouldn't have the problems it does, but as bad as it can be here, it's a walk in the park compared with Chicago.

Sounds like the stories told every day by strawman buyers who smuggle illegal weapons into the city. If only our country were smart enough to actually make us safe by requiring purchasers to pass a background check, complete a training course and account for their weapons periodically.

Guns sold by dealers with FFL requiring background check- DONE. Guns sold privately, no check. Will ALL private sellers do a background check? Not a flippin' chance. They'll just buy and sell guns "off the books", just like they do now.

I'm all for people being trained- far less chance of hitting an innocent bystander but the problem remains- criminals WILL get guns.

You're completely ignoring the fact that this is a behavioral problem. If people could deal with conflicts without resorting to violence, most of this would never happen.

Well, we ARE posting about Chicago, after all- that's how that hellhole runs.

I try to stay out of these threads.

Bottom line is, laws or no laws, permits, background checks..whatever. CRIMINALS WILL ALWAYS HAVE GUNS.

Therefore, as a law abiding citizen we have the right to have guns and carry permits, which I have.

My point is this:

The background checks and whatever are not for the criminals who are caught with them. They are for the criminals who pretend to be law abiding citizens while buying them.

If I sell a car to you the government is notified. Why can't this be the case with firearms? Only a criminal would want an "off the books" gun.
