I didn't have a problem learning. However, there is an issue when doing stand alone learning (learning when the MX-900 is NOT connectecd to the PC). The remote learns the code just fine. I tested the learned codes after I learned them and they work. But when I connect the remote back up to the PC and upload the data from the remote the codes I just learned are not there.

I have identified this problem to URC as well. They claim that the codes are there but they show up in the software as a red dot instead of the green "L" for learned. In my particular case the red dot's were there but there were no codes there.

You might want to try this with your remotes and see if you come up with the same thing. Mike @ surfremote was able to duplicate the same problem that I had.

I always learn with the remote connected.

I am eagerly awaiting the engineers' fixes because I'm beginning to like the 900 as much as much MX-850 and want to move completely over to the 900.

Thanks for your help in all of this, Mitch!

FYI, there is a new firmware and software update in beta right now. Hopefully, these issues will be solved.

Mike,

Thanks for the update. Are you one of the beta testers?

I've been using my 900 more often and it has been getting
worse. The number of times I have to double push a button
is crazy. I love the remote, but it is driving me nuts.

And is anyone finding that it is terrible at learning?

How is your battery level? The MX-900 seems to lose IR potency as the batteries go down. Maybe the batteries are low and you're not aiming at the device perfectly. The MX-900 burns through batteries much faster than my old MX-500 - batteries only seem to last a month or two. Its ridiculous. Has anyone tried rechargables in the MX-900?

I noticed this (i think the same) problem @ a return to a clients house yesterday. Volume up and down consecutively misses every other press.

How's the beta going? If it's still in progress, is there any chance it could be made available to more people? It has to be better than what we have now.

I tested the Beta software/firmware last night and the problem still exists in the beta version. I have already informed Eric and he is sending it back to the engineers again to try and resolve the problem.

It's frustrating I know, I know. It will probably be another two or three weeks before they release a new beta for testing.

Stay tuned. I will update everyone as soon as I have more information.

In case this is ever happening in RF mode with the MRF-300, keep in mind my MRF-300 had a problem which caused drop outs, and there's no way of knowing if the problem was only with my unit.

Mitch beat me to it, but as he said, the problem still exists.

I run my remote in RF mode for every device except for the TV and the problem exists.
It's a problem with the remote not sending the signal in any mode.

Yeah. I feel like doing that to but I really like the remote other then the unpredictable button issue.

I'm willing to give them another chance to see if they can get it right this time. I don't understand why the engineers couldn't see that it wasn't working before they released it to the beta testers. It took me less then one minute to determine that the problem was still there. I think the engineers involved need to do a little troubleshooting/beta testing on their own before they just release the beta to the beta testers.

It makes you wonder if the engineers are just doing a few programming tweaks and then throwing it out to the beta testers and telling them: "Here! Try this and see if it works." Without trying it themselves first.

Maybe they will try harder the second time around :)
