So, there i was...

Is there any way to get codes that are not in the URC data base into a URC (other than learning them)? Is there any way to Adapt the hex codes that the Prontos use?

It's the button next to the satellite dish. Dunno why it's not a menu option.

You can open a .CCF file from a Pronto with it. When you find a panel with a button with a learned code, you click the button, and then drag and drop the word "learned data" over on to an MX-850 button. You can then basically import any hex code in to your MX-850 by first using a pronto editor and saving out a .CCF file. The browser doesn't support the newer pronto .PCF format though.

But you don't need to drag the words "learned data." You can just click and drag the button itself. As long is it does say 'learned data,' the data will be imported.

hex input is available only in the mx3000 right now via the universal browser... and if the hex code is not in the right format then you can use the makehex program to convert it..

Use MakeHex and hex2ccf to generate a .ccf file in which all buttons are learned data. Both are available in the files section of this site. See this thread in which I began to learn about it, or just do a search for other posts by johnsfine.

Ahh, you're right! I could swear that didn't use to work.
