Is there something you can plug into one of the IR output sockets on the back of an MRF 260 etc which has the power to control devices from a distance. A sort of super powered front blaster.

There are a few emitters like this that are a little more powerful. Mostly came bundled with cable boxes and old TiVo units, now can be found on eBay.

There are 2 ports on the MRF260 that have adjustments. You would plug these into those and turn the level up to max.

How far are you trying to get the IR to reach? There isn't anything you can plugin that is going to be as powerful as the IR blaster built into the front of the MRF260 already.

Thanks, I have moved to an MX980i and from an MRF100, 200 to an MRF260i. Think we discussed this a while back, I just use the front blaster, which was excellent on the earier MRFs but is a bit weaker on the 206i. Hence I wanted soemthing more powerful.

Can you get 1 CAT6 from MRF to controlled equipment ? With a little splicing, 1 cat will do all 4 emitters.

Thanks for the idea. Not sure I fully understand the plan.

I could splice a 3.5mm jack plug to each of the 4 pairs of cores of a CAT6 cable fine.

What after that ? I still need IR control (most of my devices do not even have an ethernet port).

Has nothing to do with ethernet. Cut 4 emitter cables in half, splice the 3.5mm plugs on the CAT at the MRF end and the emitters splice on to the equipment end. You now have 4 emitters controlled by the 4 ports of the MRF over 1 CAT.
