So in addition to the new MX-490, there is also a brand new remote in the CCP line; the MX-1400.
It isn't a replacement for anything current but a new top model it appears.

* It has WiFi (2.4GHz only).
* Capacitive 2.4" Touchscreen (240x320 LCD).
* 2-way metadata (HEOS, SONOS, Roku, Echobee, and more).
* Microphone for Alexa integration.
* H264 IP camera support.
* Requires an MRX base station for advanced features.
* Li-ion rechargeable battery (3.7V 1700mAh) with cradle.
* USB-C connection!!!
* Speaker

Must be some big changes coming to the CCP software for CEDIA as well.

It also seems the microphone is ONLY going to support Amazon Alexa. Boooo.... What a disappointment :(
Everything else about this remote looks awesome. I bet the price will be a big turn off however. I'm going to guess MSRP $999+

Interesting.

Under "Requirements", the manual says "The MX-1400 requires an MRX Advanced System Controller on the network and must be programmed by a certified Complete Control integrator". I wonder if that's as absolute as it sounds with regard to MRX?

Also, I'm not sure I like the touch-screen. I like physical buttons at the side of the screen, easier to use without looking at the remote. And no physical number pad.

On the positive side: USB-C, "Two-way metadata feedback".

A step forward in some ways, but I think the MX-990 will suit my needs better overall.

So far, not listed on any of my disty's websites. I would be curious to see how well the Alexa mic interface works.

It's not going to be released until they release the update to CCP that will support it. My guess is the week of CEDIA or a few weeks after.

This is interesting. On page 16 of the manual:

Software Update
URC’s system has the ability to be programmed by a certified URC programmer remotely (after initial installation). There may be situations where the device may need to have the software update applied manually.
Select this option only when instructed by your certified URC integrator or URC’s Technical Support Team.

I wonder how that’s done on CCP?. I thought that was only on Total Control

I had forgotten all about this.

They showed it at CEDIA and said it was going to be available Q1 of 2023. But no additional info I could find. Including what the price might be.
Also, watching the video from CEDIA with the guy handling it; that is a chunky boy. Not sure how nice that one is going to feel in the hand.

The MX-1400 may only be programmable by URC Total control, not CCP.

"The camera adds ten pounds." MX-1400 is very similar in size to the MX-890.

Retail price is going to be $799. A lot cheaper that I thought it was going to be.
Targeted for a launch next month in March.
They added Xfinity voice integration now. So we might see even more later.

The voice integration is going to be direct from the remote thru WiFi. No additional base stations needed.

This is looking like a really nice remote. Something they really needed 4-5 years ago if we're being honest. But... better late than never?

In addition to the Alexa and Xfinity; they really need to add Roku, Apple, DishNetwork, and Google integration. That would cover all the major voice players - some of those they already have in TC. So it shouldn't be hard to make them available on this as well.

Let's just say there's far less involved in arriving at technological solutions than contractual ones.
