I have been away for a while mainly because I hadn't made any changes to my remote in like 5 years.

But I had to make a change a couple of weeks ago and my old XP laptop was able to do it, but I don't have much confidence it is going to keep working.

I never moved the software over to my Win 7 laptop because it seemed like a PITA to get it working.

So I am looking at getting a Surface Pro with Win 11. I am a Mac guy, but need Windows to run a few programs.

So I show up here to find the don't update thread and I am glad that URC has provided a solution.

So has anyone gotten the software to work on a Surface Pro or on Win 10 or 11? And if so, are there hoops and workarounds you need to do like with Win 7 or is it now load and play?

Thanks.

What remote are we talking about here?
I'm using W7 with a MX900, I was using a MX980, but between the very short battery pack life and overly complicated CCP I went back.
Years from now, you might as well kiss recording OTA TV goodbye thanks to ATSC 3

MX-890.

Got it to work with Win 10 with no problem. It was 7 I never could get to work.

I agree that battery life of the MX-980 was horrible, so I went with the MX-890. Still color but not a battery suck. Plus never like the Watch/Listen nonsense.

I'm using Win 10 on a Mac running Parallels. No issues. Using the standard version and updating every 3 - 4 years.

I’m using W10 because several Apps that I need no longer support W7. Note that W10 requires more resources than W7. I also had to update the computer.
