I'm still using MX-850 editor and CCP. They are both in a folder labeled "Program Files (x86)". I'm using Parallels 16 on an intel Mac running Catalina (OS 10) which is the last OS version this computer will run. I think the (x86) means the apps within are 32-bit. When I upgrade to an M1 Mac and Parallels 17, will the MX-850 app still run and upload/download to my 850's?

Unfortunately for me although Parallels 17 does support 32-bit versions and did work on my Intel MacBook, it will not on the new the M1 chip on my MacBook Pro.

Just to clarify - so are you saying that on the Parallels 17/M1 MacBook Pro :

1/ That 32 bit versions of windows 10 will not run

OR

2/ 32 bit versions of windows 10 will run, but running CCP, your MSC400 will not upload to your remote.

Thanks

I am saying (1) - Using Parallels 17, the 32-bit version of Windows will not run on Apple's new M1 Silicon Chip. When I tried to launch it I got a big pop-up window saying it is not supported.

I just updated the software for the first time in forever and immediately regretted it. Apparently in the new version you can no longer do custom graphics?

Not tried myself, but what makes you say that?

Ugh.... haven't needed to do any updates to my URC remotes for a while. I allowed the CCP software to update. It now requires a login and boots me out without one. I glanced through the thread and apparently missed the window to register as an end user.

Is there anything I can do at this point?

It just occurred to me that I didn't have either of my remotes plugged in to the computer when I did this... will that make a difference?

Your best bet is a recent backup from your system and to restore your prior version of CCP and then block it from calling home and to never try to update ever again. Sorry, but not great news if you don't have a backup of your old version.

Even if you were to find a current version of CCP from someone, as of:
CCP Update Version 4.12.0302.1
This update was made on 3/2/2022.

Feature Additions:
MX-890 minor functionality improvements
CCP software now requires a URC Dealer Portal Account login

I think you can copy the MX-890 directory and MX890.dll from the new update to the older version. We have 4.11.1013.5 and it is working fine.

Also remember that the CCP directory is portable. It can be copied to another location prior to updating.

4.11.1103.5 (though I have it written down as 1013.5) is the last version released without the login requirement. I think it’s from February 8th or something.

It is 1013.5, I made a typo. Also heard that changing URCFrame with the older one worked after the update, just the one file. Have not personally tried it as I have a login.

I also blocked ccp.exe, URCFrame.exe, URCLiveUpdate.exe.

I didn't have a URCLiveUpdate8.dll and it seems to have worked fine on version 4.0.0824.1

So like others I've ran into the URC Dealer Portal Login issue!

Unfortunately I had to do a clean Windows 10 install so installed the last "URC_CCP_Setup.exe" I had which was created in 2014!

So is my only option to use that really old version, do the windows 10 fix and not allow update?

My Remotes are MX980's

I fell victim to the upgrade issue last week after reloading the software during a computer upgrade/changeover. I hadn't used the software for quite some time for my 2 MX-900s because I haven't added any new equipment to the systems.

Blocking the sign-in mystified me, so I did what any knowledgeable guy with a universal remote would do. I came back to Remote Central and the smart, helpful guys that hang out here. Sure enough, a solution(s) was figured out. After finding and pounding through this thread, I deleted the contents of the url.ini file and copied the URCFrame.exe file from the old computer & replaced it on the new one. Didn't block anything since I don't know how to do that. Solution worked great. I am using version 4.0.1106.7.

URC looks to have decided on employing a going out of business strategy with this inane approach. Looks like they did a SixSigma project to answer the question - what is the fastest way to annoy my customer base, drive them away and put myself out of business?

Given the price of the remotes to begin with, the software should be included. Or at least made available, even for a modest cost. Installers will still need to do programming for the less tech capable among us, but otherwise, the folks who can do their own programming, will do it. Their solution can only have the effect of having people find alternatives to their products that they otherwise would probably not lose. And lose them in large numbers. If it is my business, I am trying to figure out how to sell as many products as I can, not cut the people off at the knees who DID buy my products. I don't get it. Probably being driven by some knot-head sitting in a corner office that listens only to the small voice inside his own head. The whole episode has triggered a "find an alternative" response for me. Too bad really.

My actual reasons to post were to add a bit to the "solution works" piece, but mostly to offer my thanks to the folks who figured his all out for this community. You guys are absolute treasures.
