This is really strange. No problems with this remote for years. All of a sudden, the screen is dark and no sound. I've tried replacing batteries with no change. I've tried using removing a battery and replacing it while hitting the on and mute keys. Yesterday that worked but I was unable to do anything else. Today, just once when I tried a different set of new batteries, everything worked with text and sound. However, when I turned the remote off and tied to turn it back on, there was no response. And today, I can't get it to go into the boot loader. Any suggestions, or is this thing just dead?
Thanks

If you’re the handy sort, the best I can suggest is taking it apart and seeing if there’s anything wrong with the battery connections, like maybe a cracked solder joint. Or something else obviously wrong. Doesn’t sound like anything merely software based.

Thanks for the reply. Opened the unit and nothing wrong that I can see. Good thought though.

I have one where the screen is lit, but blank. It still sounds and sends commands if I select the right keys. I just cannot see anything on the display. Change of batteries does not help. I opened it, but saw nothing obviously wrong. So, I've just given up on it (unless someone can suggest a resolution).

Thanks

Try a reset:

Put the batteries back in and Press the small silver reset button in the battery area.

Have you tried the "Boot Loader" hack and reloaded the configuration files?
Years from now, you might as well kiss recording OTA TV goodbye thanks to ATSC 3
